I am the newest victim of this false advertising...

Bought a Region 3 Patch Adams DVD at National Bookstore in Glorietta this afternoon... they are the only shop which has a copy of that... it says in the back cover that it is encoded with DD and DTS but when you play it.... presto! ..... NO DTS AT ALL!!!

It's a pity that a country such as ours is flooded with false advertising... no wonder why a lot of people are still buying pirated dvds... bumibili ka na ng original and legitimate dvds, peropalpak din, di pa pagbutihin ang produkto!

This government is really not that prepared on their anti-piracy campaign... kung sino man dyan ang affiliated with the VRB or what have you.... better think again of your platform.... buy original? when your original is full false advertising and is inferior.... geez!

Warner R3 latest release with this cover art (not snapper):

1. Menu screenshot on back cover is different from the actual menu screen.

2. Back cover says: "DUAL-LAYER FORMAT Layer transition may trigger a slight pause." The disc is actually single layer, 3.95 GB.

I swear I'll never buy another R3 again.

The same thing with my Batman & Robin in snap case release, acquired from VideoCity Megamall. Cover indicated as:

STANDARD VERSION Formatted from its original version to fit your screen WIDESCREEN VERSION Presented in a 'matted' widescreen format preserving the aspect ration of its theatrical exhitition Enhanced for widescreen TVs

I thought this is a DVD-18 like my Superman dvd. When I watch it in my pc, it is only Widescreen and nothing more...and I'm very much surprised!!! it is dvd-5, the cheapest on earth!

I've seen a 2-disc P-DVD (China) version, presumably copied from R1. The Philippine R3 is a censored version.
Congratulations, Warner Philippines. You now have the dubious distinction of being the distributor that released the first and only censored DVD in the Philippine market.

At the R3 hearse scene (chap. 28 at 97 mins.):

1. There's a delibrate frame error - the picture is framed higher to hide the woman's pubic region.
2. The woman's boobs were censored with a Gaussian Blur filter.

To those who can compare the R3 and R1 versions, please confirm because I think there are other censored scenes. Please tell us about the peeping tom scene and the rape in the car.

YES, Casper, has a DTS track... though not advertised on the cover, i was surprised when i actually played the disc.

I noticed a little discrepancy on the R3 release of Saving Private Ryan 60th Commemorative Ed, i was surprised to see in the slipcase that it is R2 PAL, good for me that it isnt. (i don't have a multi-system tv

The Prince of Egypt that I was able to buy in the AstroPlus Podium sale didn't have the 4 page booklet that was listed at the back of the case. Also it was featured in full screen and not in anamorphic 16.9:1 as indicated in the case.

There have been 2 releases for this title. This version has the new cover with the old disc.

Ang daming DVD pockets na false. Many classics I buy have false SPECIAL FEATURE listings at the back: Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) [2 Disc Special Edition DVD], Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) [2 Disc Special Edition DVD] and many more say that there are TRAILOR GALLERIES included in but I never ever see them. Lahat ba na DVD ganoon?

i just got both Die Hard part 1 and part 2 (regular covers) for 299 each today -- i was pleasantly surprised because when i opened them up, both contain Special Edition double discs with dts!

wow!!! im sure some members have already brought this up but i cant find the thread where this was discussed in length...

Read somewhere on this thread that the Matrix available locally does not contain the Follow the white rabbit special feature-Not True!(at least not on my copy)

Was not able to use this feature on the dvd player but successfully unlocked using a PC.

definitely not true. i bought my copy in 99 pa and i was able to watch it. but that is a sort of first
pressing. i dont know about subsequent pressings...

and i got catch me if you can. the labels outside the disc indicates it as region 3. inside, the disc itself is labeled as regions 1 and 4. the disc is actually region 1 and 4.

Got Die Hard 2 last night. I asked the very helpful salesmen there at Video City SM Megamall and no one was sure that it was indeed 2 discs. Took a gamble based on your tip and was rewarded.

Good buy for PhP 299... 5.99GB + 2.93GB.

Looking for Die Hard 1... would be thankful to anyone who can tell me where I can get it.. yung malapit lang sa Cainta or Pasig.

Its says that it is widescreen but it is fullscreen. R1 has also this misprint.

I think the weirdest one is my copy of Armageddon which I got at Astrovision. It actually has "The Criterion Collection" label on its spine! I think that the extras and content are taken from the Criterion release with some MAJOR omissions (discrepancies as stated in the first post of this thread such as the commentaries, etc.) however I have a major pet peeve with it. The back clearly states: Presentation Type: Widescreen and Presentation Type :16x9. However, while the film is shown in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio, it is most definitely NOT an Anamorphic transfer! I suppose I should forgive it a bit since the original criterion release was not anamorphic either but I'm still mad as hell at the false advertising.

Bought ET from Odyssey in Gateway, the casing showed DTS, and other Dolby formats but when I played the DVD, there was no option provided for the format. Worse, there is no indication what format it is playing. Unfortunately, I don't have the receipt anymore so I might not be able to exchange it.

tuscany, press mo na lang display button ng remote ng player mo para makita mo kung DD or DTS ang audio track.
