Good thing i read this post, Chicken Run R3 didn't have DTS despite the labeling. Worse, the very good animated menu that was in the R1 was omitted for the R3 so all you get is a static menu. Good thing i was able to return it.

the region 3 version of the mummy ultimate edition is no ultimate edition at all... a lot of features are missing

extra features indicated on the box but not on the dvd are:

egyptology 101
building a better mummy documentary
production notes
cast and crew filmakers
pharoah lineage
the mummy returns trailer
highlights on the mummy returns

dami nito ah... baka naman may second page yung special features di ko nakita... o baka easter egg?

It appears this phenomena is more common and consistent with R3 DVD's rather than with R1's where quality control is often more intense.

I really wonder when R3 DVD's will ever come up to par with the quality of R1's. This is something that the local DVD manufacturers/producers should address .... like having DTS, 5.1 (or even better), THX, etc, etc ....

Just my comments.

On a good note, Monsters Inc. R3's cover does not indicate a DTS track, which I'm happy to report it has! I think Hemisphere has mentioned that this is an exclusive to the Asian release.

Same thing goes for the R3 releases (at least the ones sold in the Philippines) of "The Ring" and "Red Dragon".

Mr. Hankey was kind enough to send me a PM recently warning me not to buy the locally-released R3 boxset of Friends: The Complete Seventh Season. The "Footage you've never seen" that is printed on the cover is absent..

So if you're an avid Friends fan, the "safe" releases (so far) are Seasons 3,4,5,6 and 8 (that's if you're not as OC as I am to mind that the packaging shifts from digipacks to Amarays).

comments on pearl harbor r3 release:

dolby digital 5.1 - works perfectly, but when you switch it to dts surround there is a delay in the lipsync of the actors. bought it at tower records.

You mean they don't have the extended footage on Season 7, but have it on Season 8?

Also, has the Season 3 boxed set been released locally?

my region 3 version of the mummy ultimate edition has all these features. I bought the DVD like 4 years ago at Astrovision Galleria.

Yes. What's very misleading is the R3 Season 7 has 4 discs and MOST of the features of the R1. The other non-extended seasons are only on 3 discs and don't have any of the R1 features. All R3 Season 7 episodes run 22 mins. and under. The R1 episodes run from 22-30 mins. each.

The R3 Season 8 has all features AND the episode run times are all over 22 mins.

Of note here: The UPC under the bar code of the R3 Season 7 is FAKE - it's the same as the UPC of Season 5! That should've been the first clue that something was fishy about the boxed set.

The UPC of Season 8 is the same for both the R1 and the R3.

Has anyone tried returning the discs to the store? Would that be actually possible? After all one is not satisfied with the product because what is on the packaging is not in the disc.

I figure, if everyone returns all the "bad" discs, then the shops like Astro could tell the distributors how crappy their discs are.

In the case of Viva Video (another crappy company), can one write to the DTI about their crappy discs?

hey i get i now. the mummy ultimate edition i bought on sale sa astro is only a special edition! kya it lacks all of the features indicated on the box. the box clearly staes that it is a ultimate edition, pero the disc itself, is only special edition pla. kya wla kulang yung ibang features, which mostly are sneak peeks and promotional material para sa mummy returns.

Discrepancy: The back of the case clearly states, in bold letters, "Special Features: Audio-Only Bonus: Leo is on the Air Radio Promo." This isn't anywhere on the actual disc.

Yup Special Edition lang yun kasi title ng dvd "THE_MUMMY_SE" pag inexplore mo sa PC.

meron din nakalagay na dvd-rom special features pero nung ni load ko sa PC ko walang nangyari. Super disappointed ako sa dvd ko.

pwede ba i complain ito kasi considered na false advertising and nangyayari?

Please note that the R3 version of FRIENDS: The Complete Ninth Season does NOT contain the "Who's Your Best Friend? Trivia Challenge" as listed on the back of the box.

That's the only difference from the R1 version, though. All other features are intact, and the show does contain the extended versions of the episodes.

For Php 1395, I can live without the Trivia Game.

I was able to buy an Ultimate Edition DVD of the Mummy a few years ago and it had 2 discs. Don't know if you guys are referring to that pero the ones I see nowadays are the single disc versionand is indeed the SE version only. Plus the cover is a little yellowish from the gold one of the 2disc UE i have.

i think nung ni-release yung the mummy ulimate edition, it was on 2 discs, pero the one i bought was on sale jsut last month.
