How does a soap opera look like with the Soap Opera Effect on in your TV?

Hi Doc, haven't got a clue, when the soaps are on I'm nowhere in sight.  ;D

Hi guys, I've been quiet for while, Internet problems thanks to Globe, an exotic virus thanks to the wife's sisters family & a problem with the house. The front & left hand walls were to have been 6" insulated panels, this included the rear wall of the HT but the manufacturer decided he could not supply. Although making 4" panels OK the 6" ones were breaking up as they came out of the mould. After careful deliberation we decided to fabricate our own, 4" CHB, plaster skim coat, 1.5" polystyrene sheet & 1" plaster coat on the outside. This enabled us to put in the HT rear wall.

April 8th.

April 24th AM - rear wall perimeter framing.

April 24th PM - left hand wall vertical framing.

April 25th - rear wall.

April 25th - front wall.

I will take more photos later & post tonight.

very nice :)... what do you plan on your ceiling?
in my HT, my ceiling is gypsum board with cove lighting and it vibrates a lot in heavy bass scenes.

just something to think about :)

Nice progress oldboyracer. That room looks definitely huge considering there are still so much clutter inside the area. I am looking forward for the finished project of yours whenever that may be.

On a different note, I am just waiting to receive the final plan from my engineer so I can start work on my own HT room as well. Its crazy that I bought a new avr upgrade even before I got started on my project. I got the marantz sr7007 on a great sale so I wasn't able to resist the temptation. Now, I need to dispose my current pioneer vsx1122 because I will not have any use for it.

Hi Photonyo, thanks for the like. Ceiling will be 1 layer marine ply & 1 layer Gypsum board. All framing members will have frame sealer & Green Glue Compound will be applied between ply & Gypsum. Walls will be the same but 2 layers of gypsum board. There will be a 15" x 8" soffit all round which will house eyeball LED lighting also a horizontal extension with an uplift at the outer end to house LED rope lights. Hopefully I will not have the same problems as you, I have impressed upon my architect that we cannot leave anything open to vibration.
Thanks for the thought.

I was thinking the same thing myself raiden, had a look this morning & thought this is a big room, still, lots of room for modifications   >:D. I shall be uploading a photo from yesterday shortly the back wall is now complete with the horizontal frame members. Unfortunately the guys that are doing the HT room are also fabricating the outer walls so it's been dormant for 2 days. They're back on the job today & I'm impressed with the workmanship. The way things are going it shouldn't take too long, as soon as the framing is complete I will do all the cabling & then the ply & Gypsum board can be installed.
I don't think it's crazy at all, you had an opportunity to buy a great piece of kit & pulled the trigger, there's no problem in that so it's a big congrats on your upgrade. Hope your HT room turns out OK, if you need any information feel free to ask. As it's my first HT build I'll only find out what I did wrong when it's too late but hopefully all my research will pay dividends.

Congrats! OBR. I like it especially the wall design aspect. ;) :)

Thanks redstarrising, after a friendly wake up call (I've been down with an exotic virus & not really thinking straight) I realised that maybe this was not the right way to go. Checked this afternoon & the frame was far too rigid, my architect had forgotten that the the plywood & gypsum board would give enough rigidity to the stud wall yet still give enough flexibility to help dissipate the sound energy. All the horizontal frame members will be removed.

This must be thrilling and stressful at the same time. How is the rest of the house progressing?

Hi Gino, Yes it's now got the the point where I can start getting my hands dirty. waiting for some hangers to be fitted that will support the plastic conduits for the speaker cables. At the moment helping my electrician pulling in the cables for lights & outlets. The stressful part is the time delay due to availability of parts, I have had to improvise with some items so it's going to be interesting.
The rest of the house is going well although around 3 months behind all due to suppliers being unable to deliver on time or not at all. The latest is the roof tiles, they are due 2nd week of June so that will be the last job except for the painting. I'll post a photo later.

Slow progress today, arrived on site to find the 1st coat of sealer had been applied to the floor so had to wait until it dried. Managed to complete the conduit work, only 2 boxes to be fitted for the R & L hi speakers when the ceiling framing is installed. Speakers cables go in tomorrow also final positioning of all other cables so the plywood & gypsum can be fitted.
