You're right Gino, I now feel as if I have something to work with. Although the language barrier is a bit of a problem I have been able to make myself understood & the guys are great, they are only too willing to help. As they know the room is special to me they keep saying "we will make it perfect" - a brilliant attitude. All I can say is I would not have got the same understanding in the UK.

Hi bro Jen, thanks for your comment. A little bit of information for you, the 1st layer (plywood) is not necessary for soundproofing purposes. I am using it for secure mounting of my speaker brackets, I didn't like the thought of relying on a fixing in the Gypsum board.  On saying that the resonant frequency of the plywood is different to the Gypsum board so it helps a little on the soundproofing side.

A little bit slow today, only a third of the ceiling having the Rockwool installed. The guys have overdone supporting the Rockwool - which is taking a lot of time - but I am giving them their head, they really want to do a good job. It will probably take an extra day but I don't have a problem with that  :).

With all the planning, "wow" is a must, aesthetically and acoustically.

Hi bro! Your "build" is really going to be my reference. Hopefully in 5-years time when I get a chance to transfer to a newer house, have a bigger dedicated room, I'll follow your footsteps. Good luck!

Superman your appreciation makes me humble, this is my 1st HT build but by the time you start your own build I'll be able tell you what I did wrong.
Thanxs again for your appreciation   :)

I've had internet problems again - thank you Globe, so yesterdays updates are a bit late.
Ceiling Rockwool completed & plywood layer started.

Looking front from right rear corner.

Looking towards the rear wall.

Left wall from front right corner.

Looking towards the rear later in the day.

Looking to the rear another sheet of ply wood added just before I left site.

Ceiling finished today, room cleaned & all joints checked & sealant added where required. Sealing joints continuing tomorrow + me marking out the stage & seat plinth. Stage & seat plinth build will start on Friday, getting excited at the thought of really  getting involved  ;D

Just reread the thread & realised I've missed something which is important to the soundproofing. My original intention was to use Resilient Sound Insulation Clips to decouple the stud wall framing from the walls but importing from the US would have put too much of a delay on the project. I decided to use low density rubber strip between the framing & floor & ceiling. Also the screw fixing holes were over size using  a large steel washer with a low density rubber washer underneath. This means that none of the metal work is in direct contact with walls, floor & ceiling. I used 6mm thick rubber, maybe should have been thicker but will write a review when the HT room is up & running.

I've taken 1 set of seats to the HT room today to mark out the seat plinth & have decided to leave them there so they will be appearing in a lot of the photos. Stage build starts tomorrow.

Front & right wall, still sealing the joints

Left & rear walls

I've rethought my colour scheme & have decided to go with red walls (tending towards burgundy), black ceiling but the soffits are causing me a bit of a headache. Don't know whether to go same as wall, same as ceiling or a colour half way between the 2. My architect is going to help me out redoing the computer images as my visualising of colour schemes is hopeless  :-\
