i think based on your gears set-up in front, this should be best height setting.

i also took the liberty of improving the room bass  :)  :)  :)

I agree sir Jake, my calculations should have given 25mm clearance between screen & center speaker but I've ended up with 125mm. I haven't worked out where I went wrong, probably a subtracting error as I did the maths in my head. Ah ! well it's done now & a little inconvenience to rectify.
Thank you for adding a sub at least I'll get a idea of what it looks like  ;D

Powered up all the gears yesterday, we have good news & we have bad news.
The good - everything survived the trip from the UK & works well sort of.
The bad - the screen has some thin lines from the bottom to half way up, 5 on the left & 1 on the right.
The volume on the remote does not work so I'll have to check if any of the other functions have the same problem.
Complete clear up today in readiness for acoustic panel install & a bit of further investigations into the problems..

Wow I admire the cable management being done.

How's the TX-NR5007? Did it power up? :)

Hi larokulit, yes the TX-NR5007 powered up OK but the volume on the remote is not working. I will check today to see if there are any other problems with it.

You & me both Louie. What's worrying me is that the screen may have had this problem when I bought it, the lines are not noticeable all the time, depends on picture content. My supplier has been very reliable over the years & would have told me & offered a further discount, I don't suppose I'll ever know now. The other possibility is that something has been dislodged in transit but if that's the case it is going to be a nightmare to work on   :-\

Thanks for that sovrain, the screen is 2014mm x 1194mm & the back wall just under 5000mm wide so it's taking up nearly half the wall. It's sitting nearly 1000mm away from the wall to give some extra viewing distance if I ever go for a PJ.

Update :- It looks like the only problem with the 5007 remote is the volume buttons which appear to be sticking & not transmitting, I will dismantle it later & see if it's repairable. The screen now only has 1 line on the left hand side but half the width it was before so it looks as though it is improving with usage    :-\ ??? :)

Sir OBR,
Maybe you could try using this plasma tv break-in color slide show...
Hope it could help eliminate those unwanted line :)

Thanks for that Louie, My screen is already burnt in, it was on display for a month before I purchased it but it will not hurt to try something different.

Thanks for your concern ghost, I'm beginning to think that the problems are a product of the transfer from the port to the house. 50% of the distance  I would call terrible but everything has survived the trip so I'm reasonably happy. Fingers crossed the screen will sort itself out.

Update :- Acoustic panels will be installed over the weekend. Yesterday & today I have been listening to music played on the Oppo, Simple Minds, Enigma & Hawkwind. Considering the system has not been set up yet it sounds quite good. I am really appreciating the benefits of a larger room, getting excited for the weekend  ;D ;D ;D

Once all acoustic panels and seats installed and you run final audio calibration, I supposed you have at least
SPL meter to do fine tuning to your custom setting. As I read in other threads, they usually do manual fine tuning suit personal preference that differs every user.

SPL meters are for gain setting only am I correct? Usually, I boost the center speaker by 1-2 db for dialogue, plus of course the sub. hehe!

Don't worry china-man there will be lots of pics, it's been a bit difficult to get decent shots because of all the things still in the room. All room non essentials will be removed today so hopefully pics later.

SPL meter is the one thing I haven't got audiojuckie, I've been meaning to get one so now's probably the time to pull the trigger. I've usually been happy my Audyssey calibration but this a whole new ball game so best to be prepared.

One of my tests cds has an annotated frequency sweep. I find that more meaningful than an spl meter. What you hear is what you are getting.

Hi Nelson, this is an area where I haven't bothered too much as my past rooms have been multi - usage & far from ideal. It's my understanding that SPL meters were essential before the likes of Audyssey came on the scene to ensure correct adjustment of speaker sound levels at the listening positions. Audyssey & the like do not always get it right so it's good to be able to check with an SPL meter & as audiojunkie states each individual has different preferences.
