NMT newbie
« on: Nov 11, 2013 at 12:49 PM »
I am in the process of listing up things needed for the living room of our new house.

While researching, i came across NMT's or media players.  I am confused why these are needed in the first place?  Aren't TV's nowadays capable of reading (and playing) files directly from a digital storage device vis USB?

Please, enlighten me.  I KNOW i am missing something out.

Thanks.

stand-alone media players can play more movie formats than built-in players in the TV.

also using the same settings on my TV, I noticed that PQ using NMT (even my old PCH-A100) is better than built-in media player of the TV.

DTS MA-HD audio can't be played by your TV, there are some that can play DTS via Toslink but most of the TV built-in media player cant play Master Audio.
