Regardless of how much the San Miguel group wants to pay for a Super Import, if it still doesn't bring them a Championship eh wala rin kwenta. Actually it's at their own risk.
Just like how they tried foreign coaches in Toroman and now Purves.
Whether it brings a championship or not, it still doesn't change the fact that SMCorp doesn't follow the league salary cap rules ...... for both locals & imports.
ALASKA team owner Fred Uytengsu said it best - back when Joe Devance demanded to be traded to another team ......
"Why does Joe Devance want to leave, when he’s earning P350,000 a month and coming off a championship? Isn’t our P350,000 as good as the other team’s P350,000? It’s the same P350,000."
Joe Devance was already receiving the league max salary. He was also a serious MVP contender that year, so he wasn't lacking for minutes or exposure either ...... they were coming off a championship, so he was with a contender as well ...... yet he still demanded to be traded to another team.

RIP Bryan Gahol ...... not a PBA superstar, but played the game the right way.
More casualties caused by these trucks, jeepneys & other ragtag vehicles on the road.
