‘Parang Wowowee’: Yeng Guiao compares PBA draft lottery to alleged cheating scandalhttp://www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/parang-wowowee-yeng-guiao-compares-pba-draft-lottery-to-alleged-cheating-scandal“Parang Wowowee.”
That’s how Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao described the controversial draw in the PBA draft lottery that drew negative reactions from fans.
Guiao compared it to an incident in the variety show a few years back where a technical error raised allegations that a segment was rigged by producers.
“Hindi naman pwedeng mananahimik na lang tayo. We’re the aggrieved party here because we own the Meralco pick,” Guiao said.
“Ang daming nakakakita na sa YouTube eh.”
Guiao does not believe the draft lottery was conducted in an appropriate manner.
“The method was crude. It was lacking in credibility,” he said.
Earlier, Alaska’s representative to the PBA board Dickie Bachmann suggested to the PBA to come up with a more transparent process, even showing to the Commissioner’s Office through special assistant to the commissioner and media bureau chief Willie Marcial, an image of the equipment being used by the NBA’s own draft lottery.
But Guiao believes there’s a bigger issue that needed to be addressed.
“I don’t think the issue here now is the process. The process needs to be improved definitely, but the credibility and the integrity of the process itself and the commissioner, who was conducting the lottery draw, is in question,” the coach added.
