How to hide wires in a home theater room/family room?
« on: Mar 25, 2014 at 11:08 AM »
i've always wondered where do the wires -- power cables, cable tv wires, player-to-tv wires... etc -- are kept hidden from sight?  most ht rooms/family rooms showcased don't have any wires/cables exposed -- how do they do it?

even the simple cable tv wire, how does is it kept hidden?  and how does it enter the house from the service pole?

it's just a matter of planning. In-wall would be the best solution. if hindi kaya ng in-wall then cable management would be the 2nd thing. pero you will still see some of the wires. pwede ka din magpagawa ng 2nd parang fake wall.

Preparation my friend.

You can paint or use colored electrical tape that will match the walls of your room para di gaanong halata. You can use square conduits then paint them too.

Tama si titor, the fake wall makes cable management cleaner, and is a solution for HTs which are after-thoughts.

Good if you can already plan for in-wall cabling, but ensure that the pipes/conduits have more than enough space for cable replacments/upgrades after some time.

how to do this?  i'm guessing this can be done on dry walls.  ours is cemented.  so i guess fake walls will be the way?

how about cable tv wires from service post?  how?

pwede naman yung fake wall mo not all the way. just be creative about it. parang fireplace yung dating niya or something. about yung cable from the post you can ask the cable company or someone who knows about it to route it along a wall or somewhere na hindi siya diretso. but you need to pay for the additional cable cost. what they normally do is get the shortest route from the post to your house

No, it's not a dry wall, it's cement. I had it installed when the house was still under construction. Also, I had already prepared the cable line (RG60) provision even before the cable company's installation.

If you want to have same effect/look as the planned build with built cables built-in, an option is to add wooden or plywood double wall at the back to hide all cables (you can have conduit inside to run the wires/cables and install wall plates to plug IC & spkr cables from the equipments. You can also extend the back wall to the side but instead put here your DIY acoustic panel right behind your speakers.
