Mix and Match Power Amps?
« on: Dec 16, 2014 at 11:31 PM »
Is it okay to mix and match power amps? Example : Parasound for 5 channels and Emotiva for the 4 channels used as overhead speakers (Atmos). Parasound more powerful than the Emotiva for the ceiling speakers. Thanks.

I guess for HT use it should be ok. For music, mostly we only use 2-channels anyway. Liking that Atmos plan. Hope to see that in the gallery soon ;)

Follow up question, dapat ba same power rating kahit ibang brand ng amplifiers?

Not necessary sir, you can use lower power for surround and effect speakers. Your LCR channels if possible to have same rating. This way you can use matching center to LR which is highly recommended for timbre matching.
Anthem CD1
Anthem Pre1
Audio Linear TT
Ortofon Rondo Red
Theta Dac
GTA SE-40 Amp
JBL L7

not really, but same gain is better, pero meron namang volume controls yan so covered ka na rin...

Ideally pareho, since your loudest volume would be dictated by the weakest amplifier.
