Kobe took a lot of those bad shots. Didn't get benched.
I don't think that Phil implied that there was a lot of players who could have been a Steph. He made a follow up tweet that he meant that there were just some similirities between the two. And it's a fair comparison, even Kerr compared Curry to Abdul-Rauf.
Curry was given a free rein even way back in the Mjax era. But Mjax ran a very stagnant offense, lots of curry ISOs.
Kobe made a lot of forced/contested shots, ill advised? maybe not, as it was part of a play or an isolation. (not a Kobe fan)
Don't get me wrong, I like Curry, he's a breath of fresh air, but you don't teach people to shoot 3-4 ft behind the three point line, you don't teach players to shoot near half court while warming up, and you don't teach them to shoot out of bounds in the baseline. We were taught to shoot when there is a rebounder, finish strong on a fast break; not do a pull up 3, but this a new game, a faster game.
He is from a new generation, parang street ball type its all a show and its good for the game, for the NBA.
The shot he made against the Thunder, you can argue that 10-15 years ago, if he missed that shot people would say sira ang clock management, sana lumapit pa dami pang oras etc.
He also reminds me of Jason Williams of Sacramento, he used to shoot way beyond the 3 point line; pull up for a fast break 3; in the end, I think he got benched in favor of Bobby Jackson (?)
