Netflix has ordered 13 episodes for their adaptation of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, based on the best-selling children's books by Daniel Handler. Paramount Television is producing the series in association with Netflix and Handler, who is one of the executive producers. Initially, Mark Hudis was named as showrunner, but has since left the project.
While casting for the roles of the Baudelaire siblings are ongoing, Netflix has announced that Neil Patrick Harris will play Count Olaf, who was played by Jim Carrey in the 2004 movie.
