Ako i wouldn't blame KD for bolting. OKC is notorious for refusing to spend over the cap. If a franchise refuses to spend to make the team better, he is better off moving. Nagkataon lang na GSW gives him the best opportunity of what he wants.

yup that is one point of emphasis we can look into, dami nagsasabi legacy's will change because of this decision, but for me it boils down to what you really want at a certain time in your life and I think KD wants to win now, he is still young and can still add on to his legacy after.

I guess the problem back then was not on LBJ leaving but more on how they handled the situation... it became a tv spectacle instead of going for a low profile approach. It was like rubbing salt into an already opened wound. Just my 2 cents about it.

I think, wala din kasing trade pieces na gusto ang OKC from GSW. They can get a couple of first round picks, but those will be really high picks seeing that GSW is dominating the regular season. Then if they take on contracts from Bogut, Barnes, Ezeli or Speights. They are essentially going to be tied up with contracts that they don't need in the long term. That won't give them flexibility and might pose a problem in retaining Westbrook in the future.

Nothing new. When LBJ did that it was a huge tv spectacle. I'm no Lebron fan but his champiosnhips with Miami were legit. No asterisks. Then looking back it has been done before. Drexler went to the Rockets to win, Garnett went to Boston, Malone and Payton went to LA (Lost though), Glen Rice to the Lakers, Mitch Richmond to the Lakers. At the end of a player's career they will be judged if they won a championship ring. Heck even the fabled Bad Boys of Detroit acquired talent to beef up their roster.

It's the management's job to build a competitive team. And OKC has shown it's weakness in this department time and again. They couldn't keep Harden, losing Perkins and trading Ibaka. I don't think Durant was really happy with his situation in OKC. Plus Westbrook's ball hogging might have been a factor hehehe.

Malone and Barkley waited too long to pull the trigger, they could have won a ring. It's just too bad that with social media, blamers and shamers really came out of the woodwork.

There will always be that MJ comparison. He did hos own thing on his own terms. But, not everyone can be like Mike right?

^ also Durant had already spent 9yrs with OKC. No one can say he didn't do his best trying to get a ring for okc. 9 yrs is long enough. Time to move on. And since "FREE AGENT" na sya, he certainly has freedom which he also earned to choose the team he would play next. Wala naman rules or anything. He chose GSW. So let the guy play!

Whats funny about all of this is, when a franchise gets rid of their franchise player its a business (Drose and Wilt are good examples), when a player chooses to bolt the team, he's a traitor/villain. Why he double standard? Shaq din the same thing when he bolted Orlando for LA and it was never this type of hoopla.

Players are measured according to rings that they win. Not every player wants a "best player without a ring" title ala Ewing, Barkley, Miller, Malone etc etc...

Loyalty? Loyalty loooonnnnggg gone, like thw big man era NBA! Let's accept that . Modern framework started with Boston then superfriends. Everything has been business decisions and easy ring path, no brainer. In return is their legacy is not as solid than those who stayed and won. MJ, Kobe, Tim etc. Lebron hate it or not has redeemed himself atleast to the people of Ohio.

It's either easy rings or a solid legacy, superstar can't have both.

Jerry West (The Logo), the man responsible for all the GSW acquisitions (also got Shaq from Orlando) also benefitted from acquiring talent when they got Wilt CHamberlain and eventually led to Jerry West's only championship title.
