Kevin Feige Confirms WandaVision Finale Almost Featured Doctor StrangeIt has been two months since WandaVision concluded its successful 9-episode run on Disney+, and MCU fans are still divided on its series finale. Some are satisfied with how the show handled Wanda’s moving on and full transition into becoming the Scarlet Witch, while others are disappointed with the lack of major cameos and reveals that was previously teased by the cast. One of the cameos that some fans theorized was the appearance of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange due to his magical connection with the story and because Wanda’s story has been confirmed to continue in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Now, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the Sorcerer Supreme was originally set to be featured in the WandaVision finale, with Cumberbatch already agreeing for the cameo. However, further down the process, the creative team decided to make some changes to the final episode, ultimately writing Doctor Strange out of the story. Feige explained that the reason why the major cameo didn’t get pushed through was in order to give Wanda the spotlight she deserves and that Doctor Strange’s appearance would have been a disservice to the Scarlet Witch.
“Some people might say, ‘Oh, it would’ve been so cool to see Dr. Strange,'” Feige said. “But it would have taken away from Wanda, which is what we didn’t want to do. We didn’t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie — here’s the white guy, ‘Let me show you how power works.'”
