Sony 701es and Yamaha CDX-620
Sony sounded like a leader in control with presence in every note, tone was also good neutral without much coloration in the bass and mids high is somewhat a little roll off.. Yamaha a surprise player like audioslave mention a listenable player not flashy but effective..

i have both CDP's at home (borrowed from the owners)..... they're almost identical, both very good.... yamaha has the edge when using a passive preamp because it is bouncier, strings and drums seem to have slightly more impact..... but when using an active preamp the (ever so slight) edge switches to the sony, i find it more pleasing to listen to, probably because of the smooth mids & highs..... i decided to dispose my old LED-less denon CDP for P150 because i had been playing the sony since the night before, so i guess that makes my denon the leader in price/performance huh?

more on your sony: i noticed last night it has a bit more body with vocals and its overall balance is very natural and for lack of a better word, delicate...... the treble is different from the other sony ES's, its more mellow...... btw, the internal parts are also top-notch pwedeng-pwede kahuyin, pwede ko kunan ng pics mamaya?

OT: Mga pards meron bang marunong mag calibrate/align ng dvd player lens?I'm assuming its like a cd player lang?Namimili na ng suking dvds yong player ko.Sa cd player ba pag nag skip na ang mga cds and di na makuha sa linis eh you guys tamper with the alignment of the lens track?

so you now understand the reason why that unit will likely stay with me for sometime doing alternate service sa aking old but still very reliable rotel...

sigurado panalo yung Sony mo sir. I've seen it..all I can say is... wow! siksik sa parts. mukha talagang high-end....

Just don't know against the Yamaha na nandoon. mukhang siksik din eh..

We made a separate review & comparison between Rotel RCD-1072 & the USHER CD-100 together with my friend who owned a Rotel with the above Model ( He is also a very critical listener like Audioslave & can distinguished the slight difference between a good copy of audiophile CD & the original one). It is one-on-one comparison, just to keep away from bias position, I let him make his own review. I will post his review as soon as I received it.

is this really essential?? paano kung digital optical out ng cd player ang gamit mo? no value na ang DAC...

ganito lang yun parekuy, kapag analog output ang ginamit mo sa CD Player mo papuntang line input ng amp mo o analog CD input ng receiver mo, ang DAC ng CD Player mo ang gumagana. Pero kapag ginamit mo naman yung digital out (na maaring co-axial o optical) ng CD Player mo papuntang digital in ng amp o receiver mo, yung DAC naman ng amp o receiver mo ang gagana. magiging transport medium na lang yung CD Player mo pag digital out ang ginamit mong connection.

Thanks audioslave.

Further clarification... lets say you're using a good audio quality receiver w/ good DAC! it would not make much difference even using generic player(using digital-out).
