THT rookie last year nang LAKERS .............. also a Klutch Sports client.

Some weeks ago, watched videos of him working out with his old teammate HEAT player, Kendrick Nunn ............. both looked good and ready to go.

Steven Adams agrees to 2-year $35M extension with the Pels.

He hasn't even played 1 game with them and yet they already extended his contract. Very decisive move by the Pelicans.  Now they need to address the contract of all star Brandon Ingram and he will command a max deal that's for sure.

Yup. All of those moves without overpaying nor absorbing horrendous contacts which maintains their flexibility for the next few years.

Nice turn around since Jeannie Buss stepped in and took control back in 2017.  She hired the right man in Pelinka.  In 3 years they were able to get rid of the horrible contracts and totally overhauled the line up to produce a championship team and is once again in a position to win it again this season.

BTW...fun fact:  Jeannie Buss posed nude in Playboy back in 1995.

She now leads the 4.5 billion dollar family business and is doing an excellent job at it.

Bam & Giannis share the same agent .......... this insider info says that Giannis is likely signing his extension, kaya inayos na din ang extension ni Bam.

wala talaga kwenta kasi si jim buss.. pero before marami din naman magic si mitch kupchak. di ko lang maintindihan nung late career nya sa lakers bakit ganun mga contract na binigay nya sa mga bopols na players.

Insiders in the NBA are quite positive that AD and the Lakers are still waiting if Giannis will sign an extension.  If he doesn't sign the extension then AD's contract will be structured so that he becomes a free agent after next year (1 + 1)  thereby giving the Lakers the ultimate flexibility in signing both players.  If Giannis signs the extension and will stay in Milwaukee then AD's contract will be a longer one (possibly a 3+1)

Had he not been traded from the Lakess would he be getting the same opportunity?

Nope.  He will be the 3rd or 4th option at best. That's the disadvantage if you belong to a Superstar loaded team.  In hindsight if he wasn't traded then AD wont be there.  He just might have gotten the same max extension if he is the 2nd go to guy after LeBron

May halong swerte din talaga sa NBA. One day star player ka and you get traded at mawawala ka na sa limelight. Minsan naman kapag na trade ka biglang mag blossom ang karera mo.

I way just reminded of Jermaine Oneal, supesrtar dati sa Indiana bakit bigla na lang nawala?

Yes may element talaga ng luck.  Cousins is the perfect example.  He was on a contract year when he got injured.  What should have been a massive payday for him turned out to be a series of vet minimum contracts due to his ACL and Achilles injury.  Till now he is trying to prove that he can be a productive player.  Same case with Isiah Thomas. Injury on a contract year greatly diminished his value.

Meron din naman na nakuha nila yung max contract before they got injured.  John Wall, Klay Thompson, Gilbert Arena are all examples of that situation.

The other case is being undervalued is when you join a superstar team and you are not featured as the primary option.  Kevin Love is one.  Prior to joining the Cavs, he was the franchise guy for Minnesota.  Sa Cavs he was the third option.  Same case with Chris Bosh when he joined Miami.  Love eventually got paid the max contract and was once again featured as the star player when LBJ left the Cavs. Chris Bosh as well got paid when LBJ left Miami but unfortunately after he got the contract his career ended prematurely with an injury (blood clot)

Ako naman NWFH since January :). Wala pa din nakukuhang work.

Nakakalungkot yung mga nagka injury bago magka contract ng malaki on the other hand napaka swerte ng tulad ni J Wall na ilang taon ng di naglalaro and yet ang laki pa din ng sweldo.

Another question? Say may contract ang player na max for 5 years tapos nagkaron ng career ending injury on the 1st year babayaran pa din sya ng full?

yes i think ganun si gilbert arenas, na injured sya the first year of his 100++million contract

and he did  collected the whole amount

***edit***

he was extended pala after his injury... so bad investment sa part ng washinton wizards

Majority of basketball contracts are fully guaranteed against injury as long as the injury was sports related and did not occur during activities specifically barred in the contract terms (riding a motorcycle for example), so if they get hurt and they’re still under contract at the time, they’ll still be paid. There are some contracts that aren’t fully guaranteed at signing pero bihira yun and mostly given to players who are still being evaluated during the course of the year, An example is Dwight Howard's contract last year with the Lakers.

This is the reason why many young players want to be eligible for the NBA draft even if they skip college. Once they get a rookie contract they are already assured of the money. Madami na din NCAA players who got injured prior to their draft eligibility. Some recovered to still play for the NBA but some didn't due to career ending injuries.  Red flag kasi sa GM pag may injury ka and even if  maka recover and you declare eligibility sa draft most likely mababa ang draft potential mo. Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets is the example.
