I just got my RX6 yesterday and I could not stop myself from listening to them. I have thrown every high quality audio samples that I could get my hands on at them and each time, the songs, which I've listened to for almost like, forever, seem to take my breath away the moment I hear them through the RX6.
Of course, I must say, the Marantz SR 7002 has also got something to do with it. Perhaps, so are the cables and the power cord. Did I mention I was bi-amping these bad boys?
I personally do not have any idea whether there would be any difference if I went a rung down, like, not choosing to bi-amp or using generic cables, because, I fear, I could find some flaws which I could not bear to accept.
Though I was a little bit "disappointed" at first to see that the cartons say the speakers were "Made in China", the moment I heard them sing, all my prejudices vanished. I don't care if they were made in China or where else as long as they take my breath away.
I agree that, yes, they seem a little bit warm compared to the RS6 but they are nonetheless incredibly detailed. they also seem to sound too clinical or too controlled. However, further research led me to discover that it was actually the Sr7002 who was causing the absence of dynamics in the samples. Nonetheless, they are one of the best speakers I've heard in a while and I could not want for more.
I am still in the break in period so I should expect some "more" improvement in time. Though the Low end seems to be technically sufficient by sonic criteria, I feel, perhaps psychologically, that there is something lacking: that the woofers could rip if I drove them too hard. So to simply say, I must get a subwoofer!
Now the itch seems to be taking a life of its own.
I actually have several bluray discs with DTS-MA audio and I don't want to play them unless I completed the whole 5.1 system.
I hate this itch but it's actually quite satisfying if you just kept on scratching it.
