I'm just reporting what I saw in the VIVA flier, but the very first title in their August 2004 catalogue is Mulan: Special Edition, retailing for Php 750:

The R1 isn't due until October 26, so I'm not really sure if that catalogue is accurate. But I'm giving you guys a quick heads-up, just in case.

Does it mirror the features of the R1 counterpart (except, of course, for the subtitles)?

.. no disney enhanced theater mix for region 3 .. but with additional coco lee music video exclusive..

The description of the special features at the back of the R3 DVD case is not very informative, although it appears that, yup - the R3 does not have the R1's Enhanced Home Theater Mix and is not THX-certified. Just for that, I think most DVD collectors would prefer the R1 (the Enhanced Home Theater Mix is really something else - check out the Platinum Edition of the Lion King). The R3 versions released in other Asian countries also indicate that the R1 special features are practically intact, except for changes in the music videos. Check out Cd-wow.com.hk.

I just bought the R3, and I'm looking at the special features on the discs themselves right now.

Like the R1, it's also a two-disc set, and yes, as indicated earlier, all special features seem to be intact when compared to those listed at the Disney site. It does not have a slipcase or any inserts/catalogues. I don't know if the R1 will have any of these, though.

If the special features listed at CD Wow! are correct, the Chinese R3 release has an additional CoCo Lee video, while the R1 has a "Reflection" (Spanish) music video.

The Philippine R3 has BOTH the CoCo Lee video and the Spanish "Reflection" video, as well as another Spanish language music video for "True To Your Heart."

A minor gripe: You cannot access the Mulan II sneak preview from the menu screens. The only way to watch this is to eject the disc and start it over again. Seems a bit weird.

Sadly, Hemi it only has a 5.1 English track along with the 5.1 Mandarin, Cantonese and Thai tracks.

I bought this when it was first released at 750 and still haven't watched it, and today I see it on shelves at Astro V-Mall selling for 199.

I really have to rethink my DVD buying scheme...

Kinda like when I bought Meet The Robinsons (for 550) at launch then two weeks later, it's on sale at 299. So it cost me 250 for the privilege of watching it two weeks early.

Counting the total amount that Viva makes off me (difference between full price and discounted price) would probably cause me a GIANT headache. But it does make me wary of getting any new Viva title.

Bought a Mulan "Special Edition" two weeks ago from Astro. This one said "Special Edition" outside but it only contains ONE disc. The Disc even says "Disc 1" on it. I think they intentionally left out the Disc 2 Bonus Features to make it affordable at P199.00

I suddenly feel better about buying the title at the higher price.

I'm not sure but I don't think it says anything on the front cover about it being a 2-disc set. It only says "Special Edition". But then on the disc itself, it's evident that they used the movie disc from a 2-disc set 'cause it says "Disc 1" without a second disc.

Some local Disney Titles do contain 2-discs like Tarzan, Monster's Inc, Aladdin, Bambi, Peter Pan, Incredibles, and more. They do say "2-Disc Set" on the cover. I had the same issue with X-Men 2. I bought it on sale and it was so obvious that it was a 2-disc set. When I opened it, it nly had 1 disc. I complained and they gave me the 2nd disc a couple of weeks later. You might want to try to complain if the item you bought is supposed to be a 2-disc set.

i think this is the 3rd release of mulan r3's since 2004. i got my copy during their 2nd release (i think about a year ago), and yes, they're still in two-disc set although it's not mentioned on the cover. i was also dissapointed with viva kasi about a week ago my co-woker who happens to be an animator too wants to buy a copy because of the bonus features, but we we're surprised to learn that it's only single-disc, bonus features pa naman ang habol niya.
