September 17, 2004 - Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced Top Gun: Special Collector's Edition for release on December 14, a little later than the November release date that had been rumored earlier this year. It will sell for around $19.99.
The 1986 film starred Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer as hotshot fighter pilots, while Kelly McGillis is the requisite female romantic interest.
The film will be presented in 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen with English DTS 6.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 EX audio. Extras will include an audio commentary by director Tony Scott, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, screenwriter Jack Epps and some retired military officers, six documentaries on the making of the film, a Tom Cruise interview and multi-angle storyboards with an optional commentary by director Tony Scott
Also included will be four music videos from the soundtrack that turned into huge hits: Harold Faltermeyer and Steve Stevens' "Top Gun Anthem," Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone," Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" and Loverboy's "Heaven in Your Eyes."
