Bought one about a month ago. No regrets so far.  It is already progressive scan. My decision, however, was really based on the fact that it could read so many kinds of flash memory cards. The sheer convenience of just inserting my compact flash cards after taking lots of pictures makes it already a good buy (for me).  Has not rejected any of my DVDs.

Hey DayDay, looks like you found a good match to your progressive scan capable TV.

Does this Samsung model have multi-region capability and also does auto-conversion of PAL to NTSC dvd titles?

thanks,

get the philips 642. i has built in Dolby/DTS decoder. just plug a good 5.1 speaker system like the Logitech z5300 or the cheap DTX-Sakura ampli combo and you're ready to go. but if you're planning to buy a branded AV receiver and separate speaker system, get this. but in my opinion, dvd players with built-in Dolby/DTS decoders are better these days...

Jack Ryan,

Yes to all your questions.  It is all-region and auto-converts PAL to NTSC.  My TV is NTSC only so I really need the auto-conversion feature.
