curious lang po mga sir...

i've been reading the posts about speaker brands and mostly use
MA, B&W, MS, Usher, AE, etc.   pero seldom do i read people use
JBL speakers here on their ht or music setup.  is it because mahal
ang mga JBL speakers dito compared dun sa above brands or is it
because di magandang tumunog ang JBL?  curious lang...

Well, it's a little bit of both...  there are comparable, if not better speakers available here, and less expensive... but there are PDVD members that do use JBL speakers... pero when I was researching, Northridge series lang nagustuhan ko... kaso nung nakakita ako..ngek.

Oo nga, ako din nagtataka why few are using it.  Pero if you ask me papiliin ako AE aegis evo3 or Northridge E80 (which is the same price), of course i'll go for the AE.  Pero JBL are so cheap sa US.  Thats the reason why im askin coz i just got E80 for $180.  And the best thing is i dont have to pay for it! My mom will bring it home last week of january.

I'm willing to volunteer it (if anyone is interested) for a head to head.

bRO tama seldom na use jbl speakers since old brand sya kaya people think na outdated na plus medyo mahal and matigas sya tumunog compared to english brands. But for me JBL rocks! >:D I have 3 set ups using JBL speakers, the latest one i got is the XTi series.Very good for ht kasi define ang vocals and yung high malinis pero for audio listening eh namimili sya, pang rock, disco, pop, hip hop at new wave lang bagay,sa mga jazz and audiophiles music not so much.IMO Overall rating i give it 5 out of 5, very nice sa ht and very durable construction, hindi maselan kahit mag skip cd sa high volume no problem.

hustla,

JBL is a very good brand yun nga lang just like ricky mention its good for disco, rock and wave music and not the vocals, instrument ( jazz ) type mo music. unlike the British made speaker that are more on the mid section ( vocals ), try some British made speaker for disco, & rock and some will sound bright kaya depend yan sa taste mo sa music. but in HT multi channel almost same banana in 2 channel na lang nagkakatalo.  :) :)

during my audition for  JBL ES series, i would say the Subwoofer is very good ES250P great for movie, front speakers ES80 good enough but too expensive, center ES25C for the price of 14k ok. Surround ES10 for the price of 14k pr. ok over all ok. ;)they package it sa AVR-245 ng HK. during my audition im using AVR-145 only. wala daw kc sila 245 that time. hehehe :D

that would be a special order since the distributor only brought in the black ones.  let me check how long it'll take for it to arrive. :)

JBL Northridge Subwoofer problem

My good friend gave me his relatively new subwoofer, this hasnt been used and abused since he got it, around 2 or 3 years ago, for a little less than 30k.

Went home very happy, hooked it up to my receiver, but when I started using it, parang halso indi nagrerespond yung sub, there is bass coming out, pero mahina, when I try to increase the volume, but still retaining the crossover @ 12oclock position, nanginig yung botto side, where the port is located. ???

I've tried changing to diff settings, Bass= sub, Bass: both, increase volume, icrease cross over to 160hz, pero mahina pa din yung bass. I dont think na ganun lang talga sya eh, looking at the specs, very promising:

http://www.jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=ES250PBK&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA&cat=SUB&ser=ES
General
Amplifier Power (RMS) 400 Watts
Peak Dynamic Power 700 Watts (the Peak Dynamic Power is measured by recording the highest center-to-peak voltage measured across the output of a resistive load equal to minimum impedance of the transducer, using a 50Hz sine wave burst, 3 cycles on, 17 cycles off)
Low-Frequency Transducer 12" (300mm) PolyPlas™
Inputs Line-Level, LFE
Low-Pass Frequency Adjustable from 50Hz to 150Hz
Frequency Response 25Hz – Low-pass crossover setting
Dimensions
(H x W x D) 19-3/4" x 15-3/4" x 16-7/8"
(502mm x 400mm x 428mm)
Weight 43 lb (19.5kg)

Do you suspect anything? sana naman hindi malaking gastos to repair it na halos rpesyo na ng isang sub. sayang eh, gwapo pa naman.

I asked Anthony to take a look at it, sana maayos pa.

Thanks!

Oh saw some terrible feedbacks posted by other users on Cnet, though Cnet has veeeery good reviews on it.

Good Review by Cnet:

http://reviews.cnet.com/subwoofers/jbl-northridge-e-series/4505-11312_7-30603239.html

But here are some horrible feebakcs by other user, saying that after 2 years, the amp  dies!

http://reviews.cnet.com/subwoofers/jbl-northridge-e-series/4864-11312_7-30603239-4.html?tag=contentBody;userReviews

"The amplifier portion of this sub will die after approximately two years of use. Its not a matter of luck. There is a bad component (S64AMI module) that will fail. The parts are unavailable from JBL, and I don't think there's a work around."

Sayang naman....... :( :( :(
