sir Doc,
gudam!
medyo nadiscover ko me garalgal sa woofer ng fave speaker ko (SB-501 / http://audio-heritage.jp/TECHNICS/speaker/sb-501.html). I have made further check today that its internal within the motor assembly. The ersistance reading from both good and bad speaker are the same. However, the good speaker moves freely while the bad speaker has some movement issue (parang sumasayad).
Just in case, magkano po pa repair nung woofer driver? Also, will it help if I bring the other good unit for your reference / comparison purposes? (Sundays by appointment. 9 AM - 6 PM Monday to Saturday.)
Thank you.
On 23 Dec 2011, I got my resuscitated technics driver
.
Gone is that unusual restricted movement. Back is the usual super light free movement of the cone.
However, I have typical eyes for details, so I inspected how it was done. I notice there is a rip in the front cone of the driver, the return of the rubber surround seemed not quite right (hindi nasakto ang cone edge sa rubber surround -though not that big naman).
The movement of the original is very soft downward toward the magnet structure for the orginal
but a little hard upward (away from the magnet structure). The repaired one has it reversed - hard downward and very easy upward - Probably the result of the not so exact replacement of the cone edge to the rubber surround.
This is my third time I have my speakers repaired by sir doc. But this is the first time I noticed something that disappointed me somehow. I traced the rip at the bottom, but honestly I cant trace any - except in the front portion only.
I cant help it inyway, so I just fired it in the baffle. The sound that I missed for weeks is back. low freq of 20Hz there again - so soft and fluid. Well, despite the not so perfect repositioning, the whole system is back singing beautifully again. Despite the aesthetic complaint I have, I thank sir doc for giving back my speaker singing.
I just hope they will be more careful in handling units in the future. Wishing you more power for better servicing this year. We're lucky we have them in pinoydvd.
