Hi Bennedict,

Got a call  from your man Paul.  He asked about the speakers problems other than the obvious cracked cabinet....I mentioned a blown woofer as it croaks like a frog on high volume. I also asked to run a complete diagnostic.  Have you guys determined the issues with those Bose 301's.

Thanx

Hi Benedict,

May papagawa ulit ako na drivers. a pair of EV 12 inchers I think re-edging and reconing ito.  And also would like to know if you also fix horns.  Kasi yung kasama ng EV woofers are  mid horns and tweeter horns (EVs also in metal/aluminum cast yata).  Yung tweets ok pero yung mids hindi pantay ang tunog.  Would like to know kung kaya para sabay ko na dalhin sa paco. TIA

Hello Benedict,
Just found out about your business. May mga tanong ako na sana ma enligthen mo kami? Hope you will help.
More power to you!!!

sir bz,

Here are my answer to your questions.

1.  Pag nag recone kami, we do our best to find a replacement cone which is similar in structure and    appearance.  Ofcourse, may pagbabago sa tunog pero very minimal siguro sa mga matatalas ang pandinig they will notice it.

2.  The surround/edge affects the movement/vibration of the cone.  If the surround/edge is soft the cone tends to vibrate more kaya parang nagiging boomy.  When a speaker (i.e sub driver) edge has been replaced to a rubber edge from foam edge you will notice that the bass will be harder/darker.

3.  The pleated cloth edge was designed for acoustic/instrument speakers.  Replacing it to foam will change  the character of a speaker.

Hope this answer your questions.

Thanks,

Benedict  ;D

sir audiojunkie,

The "scretch sound" sound that you hear even in low volume is what we call "sayad".  Possible cause of that are 1.  the voice coil was not properly rewinded, wires overlaped.  or 2.  It was not properly centered prior to re-assembly.  Yes, it is possible that it will get shorted because the voice coil and the magnet shaft will have contact, and when that happens the voice coil will get burned or your amplifier will get burned.

Thanks for asking.

 ;D

sir,
my speakers could have this problem too. one pair of my speakers tweeter went bad  and at the same time one of the channel of my amp blew a fuse.

when i replaced the fuse and put another pair of speakers, the same thing happened. The same channel blew a fuse and this time one of the speakers woofer went bad.

Now i have one of each pair broken (their both Missions, btw). I have to get both of them fixed. Do you think the cones of woofer need careful re-alignment, as well as the dome tweeter of the earlier pair that went bad? Hope you could advise me.

thanks.

sir rubhino,

The tweeter and the woofer voice coil was damaged when the amp blew.  Voice coil rewinding is recommended.

thanks,

Benedict  :)

sir,
so which is at fault, the speakers or the amp? i was afraid it could happen again. because the one of each pair went bad, something which has not happened before. and i was using the same combination for some time before it happened.
please advise , thanks

sir rubhino,

It's the AMP's fault.  I recommend that you fix the amp, leaving the amp with its present condition will continuously damage any speakers attached to it.

thanks,

Benedict
