aside from the DTS track, its true that few features are available.  BUT the sale has got nothing to do with it. there's no other local R3 release of HOFD anyway unlike the stripped-down Magna titles like Spiderman, Tears of the Sun, etc.

There's only 1 version of HOFD here.  No such thing as a stripped down version.

I was planning to buy the R1 version but when I saw this at P299 this morning, I just had to pick it up.  The quality of this version is actually pretty good.  When I played it on my PC, the average Mbps is 6.79 Mbps.  That's Superbit quality.  The disc is filled to the max, it's 7.57 gigs even though the extra features are minimal (trailers, photo gallery, actors filmography).  Audio is DTS 5.1.

Staring its back cover yesterday but no info as to its DTS track. Its now priced 275. Can anyone tell me if this reall has a dts track? tnks  ;)

PQ is not very satisfactory on a PJ, even w/ the R3 HK DTS-ES version that we used for the demo disk project.

I have an HVD version, it was much clearer, however can only be played on a HVD player like the GIEC. HOFD was the free HVD given when I bought the player.

I just got this title over the weekend. PQ is distractingly subpar  >:(. It's too bright in most scenes. Yung sa last scene nga, where there's snow, you can barely see the characters when the camera pans out. I think what makes it worse is that you know the colors could be so much better because of the sets used, the clothes worn by the characters etc.

Maybe I could have fiddled around with the video settings of my TV, but after trying out a couple of variations, i gave up. the settings i have work perfectly well with all other dvds i have, so figure its not me, its the disc!  ;D

sound is great though. DTS sya. i like the echo game and the scene with the bamboos. the story was puwede na rin. very soap opera-like.

all in all, if you can find a non-R3 version, might be better.

I agree. The R3 HOFD wasn't that good in terms of PQ. I liked the SQ though.

Although I don't know the PQ of other regions..
