to be able to achieve 5.1 environment.
« on: May 23, 2005 at 10:26 AM »
what should be replaced on my system.

dvd player : pioneer dv-266-s - audio output; analog out(L&R) digital out(rca & f.o.)
amplifier : sakura av-377 - audio input; analog in (L, R, SL, SR, C) speaker terminals(L,R,SL,SR,C,SW)
speaker : dai-ichi dtx slim towers, dai-ichi dtx center, dai-ichi sa-5 surround speaker, no sub yet.

aside from adding a subwoofer to really enjoy a 5.1 systems, what should be modified.

here are my options, you can add if you like.

1. replacing my pioneer dvd player with dvd player that has built-in decoder (audio output; analog 5-channel which can directly be connected to my amplifier analog 5-channel input} which will cost me P2k-P4k on generic brands
2. replace the sakura 5-channel amp with a digital receiver so that audio connections can be thru digital in/out. and this will cost me at least P13k and the same time finding a receiver that can matched with my dai-cihi 6-ohm speakers.

what would be the better option?
your comments and suggestions will be appreciated. TIA

Mr. garee!!!

Kumusta na?

My suggestion is --- get a 5.1 receiver. There's a lot of new models available. If you're considering a pre-owned unit, am selling mine  ;D (shameless plug) - http://pinoydvd.com/content/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=28&expv=0&?board=48;topic=37283.6#msg460677.

Cheers!!!

thanks bumblebee, punk_kid, kimosabe and compaq, don't worry i will consider your plug,  i mean option :P

you are all right, a receiver really makes a worthy difference.
but what receiver would best matched the dai-ichi? probably a Yamaha rxv-450.... or any recommendations
i hope all the resources would come up, half of the 13th month "maybe" due next month.
if ever based on financial constraints, i think the best scenario would be is to buy a generic dvd player.

what do you think? would u do the same? or just be patience.... for the meantime, try to enjoy the technology based on pro-logic hehehe :D

Bro Garee! musta na, gwapo ng picture sa "show me your picture" thread ah!   8)

Go for option 2. I used to have RXV450 and DTX towers, ok naman sya. Until tamaan ka ng SARS.

But, if rxv 650 is 19k (5k difference), I suggest try to get this one instead, super sulit. Konting tiis na lang... ;D

at this point wala na ako masyadong value added, but I'll post it anyway: Option 2!  ;D

RXV650 is definitely worth the extra P5T squeeze over the RXV450. Dati hangang RXV450 lang pangarap ko but I did the stretch and don't have any regrets.  ;)

5T difference - pair of speakers na yun...  I am an owner of a RXV-450.  Happy with it.  But then, if you can just stretch your budget a bit, go for the RXV-650.  :)

Bottomline, invest on the receiver- it's going to last you in the next 3-5 years.  Then, speakers - depending on how you take-care of 'em.  It's going to last you longer.

Crazy as it is, speakers have the tendency to appreciate it's value.

good luck in your hunt!

you guys convince me well that the amplifier should be replaced. it shall be done.
but before that...
here are the specs of the front towers
Dai-ichi DTX 9.5 slim towers
   - 140 watts
   - 6 ohms
   - 91db sensitivity

what entry level receiver (5.1 or 6.1) would really drive this fronts based on the specs alone without auditioning them?
  *yamaha rxv-450
  *denon 1705, 1604
  *harman kardon av130
   *your recommendations

Make that 3 votes for the HK AVR 130. Beats the RXV 450 hands down. Arguably better than the Denons. And looks the coolest out of all your choices. (taksil ako sa yammie ko!  ;D)

if you're into power,  the avr130 is the most powerful among the four.

140Watts... I wonder hanggang saan kaya ng mga tenga natin pag ginamit natin yung receivers to their fullest - as in, yung umu-usok na.

I seem to recall, there was a website with all pics on anything that goes into the microwave oven.  gaya ng delata na sardinas, CD, atbp.

BTW, just saw in the buy&sell section somebody is selling an HK130+Wharf 8.1+Center for 21K. You may want to take a look at it, ok na combo ito  ;)

I think Yamaha 450 yata gamit nya, the last time I asked him when we met sa house ni Akyatbundok.
