after reading some initial not-so-pleasant reviews on the r3 WS version & the delay in the release of the r3 DE, i eventually opted for this release at its orig. low price of US$15.98 & my copy was just shipped today by amazon...... 8)

Batman Begins DVD review

Hmmm, that reviewer needs a better center channel.

I did the same, gave up on the R3 and got the R1 DE which I just watched. What were the not-so-pleasant reviews of the R3 version, classicman?

i've read on the r3 thread for this title that there's something wrong w/ the menu page of disc 2 & not being complete in terms of extras...... 8)

As far as I know, HMV UK (R2) has the exclusivity to release the lenticular cover for the 2discs Batman Begins.

Region1 Deluxe Edition Batman Begins is an immediate OOP??

One legit source is the issued statement from DVDEMPIRE.com:

NOTICE: This DVD has been cancelled byiWarner Bros. andiisinot available at this time. The only Batman Begins DVD currently availableifor purchase isitheisingle-disc edition.

url Link below:

http://dvdempire.com/exec/v4_item.asp?userid=99364422684349&item_id=742138

Since the news broke out, the hottest chase is the Batman Begins Deluxe Edition - Bestbuy Lenticular Exclusive which is not going below $30 at auction sites..

seen this also at dvdtalk but i guess WARNER encountered a miscalculation on a positive note. a case of (perceived) number produced being lower than actual demand.  they might be releasing more copies of the set in the near future.

as a rule, dvdempire does not stock lots of dvds and they usually don't over-prebook which usually cause scarcity in their supplies regardless of preorders.

Amazon's price is now at $ 19.98 $ 4 higher than the pre-order price.  At least lower than dvd empire's $ 30.97.

It has something to do with this:

FYI: For those who opened their Batman Begins DEs

Is this the credit printed on your "The Bat-Man" comic book insert?

 " Writer-Bob Kane  & Artist-Bill Finger"

or was it like this?

 " Writer-Bill Finger  & Artist-Bob Kane"

Is this the credit printed on your "The Bat-Man" comic book insert?

or was it like this?

If the credit for writer and artist the same as the "red" marked above then Congratulations! You got the Erroroneous/Discontinued/Rare Comicbook Edition! else you got yourself the regular one, "blue" marked above

xage, that's a new development. seen that news in dvdtalk. thought it was one of those marketing ploy (ala Disney).  i have seen my dvdafionado's list and yes it has been discontinued... among other surprised OOPs.

i must agree that the R1 release looks better in all aspects but for the price.. R3 is a good buy.

let's just wait for a re-release news to correct some PQ concerns.
