wow congrats!. when I tried to look for a less damaged copy, all I got from the saleslady in astro glorietta was " sir, lahat po yan may sticker." oh well.

Man, the plastic of the DVD case of my LOTR ROTK was cuttered in half of the spine just to place the VRB sticker! Maglalagay nalang di pa inayos!

felt lucky na rin.. my cousin bought some dvds from bestbuy with the barcodes injured..

7months to go for the extende release!!! I haven't seen the movie in its entirety yet just some scenes from a screening in a bar. waiting for the extended edition

that's extremely unusual. If there's one part of the packaging that bestbuy protects with all its life, it's the bar code...

so he must have done something with it.

got a dvd bought from best buy (by my cousins) with injured bar code too. got born on the fourth of july dts.. and when i encoded the upc (on the sticker used to hide the slash) in my dvd profiler.. it says little women CE...

not an isolated case i guess... locally distributed LOTR- ROTK is fine with the slash.. better nga lang kung wala.. especially for collectors.

Just thought I'd post this bit from thedigitalbits.com. Nothing really new here, but it's still news. Ang tagal naman kasi ng release!

In other DVD release news, Entertainment Weekly magazine posted a short blurb in their June 19th issue about what we can expect on the forthcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - Special Extended DVD Edition (which arrives in December - street date TBA). Look for the film to be a whopping 49 minute longer, complete with more than 300 new FX shots completed just for this release. Among the new scenes you'll see will be Gandalf facing down the Witch King at Minas Tirith, the Mouth of Sauron taunting Aragorn and company at the Black Gates, Aragorn tending to Eowyn at the House of Healing, and Gandalf's final confrontation with the wizard Saruman. You'll also get more audio commentaries from everyone involved, two discs worth of exclusive, in-depth documentaries and (we've heard) a pretty funny Easter egg or two. Look for the 4-disc set's faux leather slipcase to be blue. We'll post further details as they become available.

Further Details
The folks at TheOneRing.net have obtained images of the new Return of the King: Collector's Set which will include the extended edition of the film, along with a Sideshow/Weta statue of Minas Tirith. As you can see from the images below, the statue will open up, so that things can be stored inside. The companion piece (which you can only buy if you purchase the gift set) is Minas Morgul, images of which can be seen nearer the bottom of the page. I'm afraid we have no further details on the extended edition at this stage, although information should begin filtering out over the next few days. Sorry for the low quality images, but they were taken with a webcam at this weeks ComicCon event, so it can't be helped! We'll bring you the high resolution shots as soon as possible. Thanks to Jon Jones for bringing this to our attention.

am i reading this right? there will be a Collector's Set with the Minas Tirith statue, and a Gift Set with both the Minas Tirith and Minas Morgul statues? i wonder how much the gift set will cost, and i wonder how much we'll have to shell out on top of that for having it shipped.

It says the only way you can BUY Minas Mogul (lair of the Ring Wraiths) is if you buy the Gift set.

so i wonder how much it'll cost..

I definitely want to get Minas Tirith.. as for Minas Morgul... i'm definitely considering getting that. will look nicely dun sa Home Theater Room ko, me thinks!
