Just to close this, in the end I didn't need a new anti-skate weight. The pre-owned turntable I acquired had one, but the nylon string (fishing line?) was too short, or so I thought. When I installed it, when the stylus was around 1.5" into a 12" record, the weight would already be at the top of the wire hanger; allowing the tonearm to pivot further would have been disastrous for both the record and stylus. I believed the previous owner maybe somehow cut the original string and had to redo a loop, with now a much shorter length to the weight.
But apparently I was the one who installed the weight in the wrong position. Looping the string at the correct position allowed full movement of the tonearm w/o the weight snagging or catching on the hanger.
So the table is now fully operational!
Thanks just the same, Alvin, for the suggestion above, at least I finally got to enter Grey Market (I would see it when passing Katipunan). Will definitely go back when I've more time to browse their catalog.
Thanks for the lead. I checked Grey Market Katipunan/White Plains. They don’t have it, they said they don’t sell parts, only turntables (Regas from what I saw). And records of course. For accessories, I saw record cleaning solutions and brushes.
I’m new to the hobby so don’t yet have a favorite record shop. :-) If anyone has suggestions (maybe turntable repair specialists?) I’d appreciate it!
Thanks!
