Ooppss.........made an error. It was the M34i pala yung pina audi sa akin sa SGT & not the M66i like I posted yesterday. Sorry sorry.........dami kasi models ng Mission eh.......na confuse tuloy ako :P
But kung pwede na M34i - I bet mas maganda pa tunog ng M66i ;D

For discount pricing - paki tawagan nalang po SGT - 8138443/8125235

The M34i had detail, a tad warm sounding & a best value in its price range.
We only auditioned it for audio - connected to a Bada "hybrid" amp & a Rega cdp.

While all these are subjective - both Butch Tuazon & I concluded that these are great value for the money ;)

Better than Wharfedales? Hmmm.....thats really subjective as Wharfedales are the most popular speakers around. So its best to really audition them yourself. Ill tell you this thou - if somebody came up to me & asks if he'll buy Wharfedales - I'll tell him to audi the new Missions first before he makes a decision  ;)

Yup - saw the MV series floorstanders in SGT - guwapo in rosewood! Pogi points is 10/10! Sayang as we never got to audition it yesterday - nahihiya na kasi ako kina Butch eh -  puro FS kasi inaudi ko kaya puro lipat at buhat ginawa nila kahapon :P

But I'd probably go up the ladder in the Mission line - maybe 2nd or 3rd line from the entry level. Unless you're budget is really tight.

The new Missions are really good for the money & I'd recommend them to anybody ;D

hehehehe - Mission thread eto eh :D ;D
But seriously - I take Wharfedales for what they are - they really brought a lot of newbies dito sa hobby natin ;)
I also first started with Wharfedales ;D

Ang dami talagang lines ang Mission - it will take you more than a day just to audition their products. I also dont think that our AV dealers can actually stock all their lines for us to audition them all - sayang, but definitely understandable.

I suggest that you match your budget to the specific Mission speaker your buying & ask your neighborhood AV dealer if they have it or could get it for you.
I believe there is a Mission speaker for every budget ;D

Ano ang matching center for M3i series? M3C2i nakita ko pero dual 4" lang ang drivers nito, tama ba nakita kong specifications? May Mission centre speaker ba for M3i series with either 5.25" or 6.5" drivers? MV-C for MV series, dual 4" rin? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Finally got the chance to audition this new Missions today at SS. Well what can I say?? Move over Wharfdale, co'z the NEW BANG FOR YOUR BUCK speakers are here!  :P

I normally start with the entry levels when auditioning...if Im happy with it, then it makes my review easier. I auditioned the MV-4, if you have a room of....lets say 6x4 dimension, the MV4 will definitely make you happy. Clean and crisp sounding BS. And for it's price? animal ito!  pwedeng pwede!

For the MV-C, I find it a bit "manipis", I guess after a few hours of burn in, this will get better. Is it maybe because it has no port?

Forget about it being made in China, what matters is it's performance / price. Sooner or later majority of those speakers we see will all be made in China. If I have the money to burn now, I will definitely get this with a drop of a hat.  ;)

Oh btw, thanks to Jun of SS who patiently accomodated me today.

It's about time!  The new owner of Mission is the Chinese company IAG (International Audio Group).  IAG should provide financial and manufacturing muscle to those old brands they purchased.  At any rate, if IAG didn't take over, those brands would probably be dead by now due to bankruptcy.

http://www.iaguk.co.uk/

Mission seems to be selling better than ever in the hands of IAG.  I'm expecting them to sell as well as the Wharfes in the coming years.

I'm not worried.  IAG has a huge factory in Shenzen, but its R&D is with IAG UK, based in Huntingdon, Cambs., England.  And the R&D is not one group for all brands; they have a specific R&D team for each brand.

The MV-C has a freq response limited to only 85 hz. So you will need to set your receiver crossover to 90-100hz. I think it must be the smaller cabinet size.

The UK made Mission M5 series used to grace my HT room and it never fails to take my visitor's breath away with its striking design. Now they remade it into their most affordable model and many can now have this similar beautiful design in their HT's at less cost. This will surely give the wharfes a run for their money.

Kudos to mission and hats off to China for making our once expensive hobby more affordable.

Yep, I recall when Racksrus tried to belittle "China made" HiFi but forgot that the B&W's connected to it were made in China too. :D :D :D

We are inviting everyone to audition the Mission on display at Sights and Sounds.

Mission MV series' design standards have reached to new height--a remarkable performance blends with appealing looks that raise the bar for entry-level speakers.

mam tonedeaf,

IMHO, would agree with sir E-reply to source for an alternative higher sensitivity center speakers if the chosen path is just speaker upgrade.  am not sure though if the M7C2 can give you better sound as it is 89db compared to the available M3C2i which is 91db.

the other option you can take is via amp - the amp you use is 55wpc, the MC1i is only 87db which requires a more powerful amp to drive.  i also use an M7C1i and was ready to part with it but after changing to the onkyo 805 (130wpc), i had a change of heart.  never expected the center channel to sound better.

in any case good luck with the search...

@Jazzy Jake and E-Reply,

Just saw your response to my post. Thanks! I'm actually going to get a new amp by next year (subwoofer kasi ang upgrade ko this year). Although my problem is, di yata Onkyo 805 levels ang kaya ko. slightly above entry level lang siguro. hehehe.

I have upgraded from Missions but I still miss their sound. I plan to get some entry levels for my future bedroom setup.

Yes. But the M5's were way heavier and were biwirable. The wood finish and lacquer of the M5's were better but not too far from the MV's finish. The sound... No comment yet cuz it was new out of the box when I auditioned the MV's.

Overall, these are truly wonderful value for money speakers with matching good looks (an important criteria for me). In my experience w/ several Mission models, they sound even more awesome with power amps, whatever the sensitivity.

If I were to upgrade my speakers, probably I will be upgrading to the same speakers you have right now ;) a Dynes or a Dali.....(I've been into the 2008 HKAV show last week and that Dali Helicon series just blew me away....so many good sounding speakers on the show but I cannot afford most of the ones that I like...)

There are Mission Speakers on the show but on the day that I went in there, those missions are not in the booth for listening..... :(

Dynes & Dali's are great speakers, yes a bit pricey and need quality amps to drive but they are really worth it.

Since this is the Mission thread, the high end 78 and 79 series are the equivalent of the Dynes & Dali's. According to the people I met who own them (78 series), they also need good amps to drive them well, despite their stated sensitivity.

yes.... I do agree....I've heard the old 780Se long time ago and it was very nice......may need a subwoofer though if you're a bass head ;D.... It was out of my budget at that time though......

I might consider buying this speaker if I will stumble on a good unit though.... 8)

Yes, thats why I have to ammend my previous raves many moons ago about when I upgraded from Mission M5's to Dynes. It wasnt an apples to apples comparison since they are of a different class.
