some help on dvp5500s
« on: Sep 13, 2005 at 09:42 PM »
the manual on dvp5500s states that the 5.1 channel out will be connected to front, center and rear speakers. May i know if there is a 5-channel amplifier inside the player? Or does it mean powered speakers. And since it has a volume control, is it okey to connect the 5.1 out of the player to the 5.1 input of a receiver? this time  two volume  controls,  one from player and the other on the receiver. tnx

Using the 5.1 outs of the DVD player means using the player's DAC instead of the receiver's. And yes, you can connect the 5.1 outs to powered speakers and also to the receiver. For DD/DTS, you can also use the digital out and let the receiver do the processing. For SACD (and DVD-A), you have to make use of the 5.1 outs.
