***********************************************************

After several evolutions, here it is: The iMAtZ THEATER.

Had a lot of bargaining and pleading to get a WAF (Wife Approval Factor) certification for this enclosed living/HT room (2.9m x 4.2m), so here it is:

Edited to put the updated images to the first page. Older setups at reply#64 or click here

In action. Veneered sliding entrance with acoustic treatment on the inside

Irregularly shaped recessed ceiling and aluminum modular shelves at the back for sound diffusion. Also for the placement of the 6th & 7th channel and the front projector (not yet in pic). Surround speaker wires & a/v cables all go through the ceiling

DTS-ES sticker with help from JOMONDS (Thanks bro!).
(Old pic with view of old gears)

A glimpse of the acoustic treatment on the sliding door (or click here)

View of HT from dining area mirror.  Very small space, actually the whole unit is just 80 sqm. (2 floors)

Since our unit is small, I had to use 6 cubic meters of fiberglass insulation (thats a LOT) to fill up our wooden ceilings and the wall of our baby's room. Noise has been reduced by a good 50-70%. The baby doesnt wake up anymore from the loud noise of the HT. But vibration from the 12" woofer still be felt, but it was reduced by a lot.

UPDATES/ History:

9/28 added a few pics & old setup (moved 8/03/06) here

Custom made versatile "Sooper Slouch Couch"  that can be configured to be a lounge chair, a bed, L shaped, etc etc. Proudly designed by yours truly ;D. All the guests LOVE this sofa. This HT/Living room also became our guest room because of this sofa.
I jokingly call this room, my "outside the kulambo" room  ;D.

Blue light. Blank plate on the ceiling with the cables for projector

Dolby and DTS plaques, Imarflex split type aircon. Art clock that matches with the pattern of the couch's cloth  (pic below with the remote)

So many remotes! All replaced by the cool looking Harman Kardon universal learning remote in metal finish.

M52 floorstander with real wood, gold binding posts and leather backing. I love the space age look of the lacquer.
I have been drooling for this model since I started HT, I just couldnt afford it before so I never auditioned it.
I finally auditioned it last month (May 2006) and look what happened  ;D.

Same series M5ds bi-polar surrounds. They were much bigger than the M7DS surrounds so buti na lang nag fit.
All U.K. made na yung 7 speakers ko! Yipee :)

Great looking place and set-up you got there bro! Congratulations! It seems you really put a lot of thought in the design of the place to squeeze in this hobby of ours  ;D Good work! ;)

Thanks everyone   :) :).

After 1 year of planning & researching & reading sa pinoydvd and other internet sites, 6 months delayed turnover, 4 months of renovation, 6 revisions of the design, not to mention the sleepless nights revising, its finally done. And I am very satisfied with the way it looks and the way the HT sounds, the harshness and crazy sub reverberation from our old (bare cement walled) place is now GONE. Having an enclosed area + acoustic treatments for HT really has an advantage.

I would really like to thank pinoydvd for all the knowledge I learned in this site to make this thing possible. Special mention to sir levi, av_phile, bumblebee, jomonds, hans adriane and all the gulaman boys  :D, etc etc.

My sharing of whatever knowledge and experience in building this HT in this thread is my way of thanking pinoydvd for all that I have learned from this wonderful site.  :) :)

wow ganda Sir!!! hope someday will have also a dedicated HT Room  ;D

Actually, di po yan dedicated HT room. Pinagpilitan ko i-enclose para maging multi-purpose Living Room/HT room/ Guest Room/Music room/Baby playground. Hehehe. I had a hard time convincing my wife to enclose this, but when it was done, she was happy with the result, specially since it can be converted to a guest room.

Pwede mo rin naman siguro i-squeeze sa living room mo eh ;D

I like the way Jairus put it :
Quote
It seems you really put a lot of thought in the design of the place to squeeze in this hobby of ours

Indeed, I literally squeezed this HT room into the living room just to accommodate our hobby. The initial design of the place wasnt like this. I had to tear down a few walls & a doorway and put up a few walls just tosqueeze this setup in our tiny 80 sqm place.  ;D. With this area, a dedicated HT room w/ these gears is impossible.  :D.

Quitacet -the area is 2.9m x 4.2m. Its quite small but it will fit a projector for a 100" screen. Viewing distance is 3.5m and I measured my friend's HT w/c used a 100" projector and I did not experience any dizziness watching DVDs there w/ the same distance.

Added 12/13/05:

Added floor plan of the unit at reply #174. click here

Actually, di po yan dedicated HT room. Pinagpilitan i-enclose para maging multi-purpose Living Room/HT room/ Guest Room/Music room/Baby playground. Hehehe. I had a hard time convincing my wife to enclose this, but nung natapos na, she was happy with the result, specially since pwede pala maging guest room na rin ang room na to. Pwede mo rin naman siguro i-squeeze sa living room mo eh ;D

I hope I can also convince my wife to make one of our bedroom an HT room ;D but because of feng sui she does not want to move the bed from where it is now  :D at least she does not say anything naman if buy certain things sa ating hobby na ito  ;D

Again congrats sa very nice HT/Living room. By the way, can you please give me an estimate of how much it cost you to make the sofa cushion. Parang ang sarap manood kapag diyan ka naka puwesto  :) Thanks very much
