Two versions will be released later this week with a third being hotly debated on because of the consequences if it doesn't move:
- Widescreen edition (Php499)
- Deluxe edition with the lenticular case, the collectible book, and collectible magnetic balls (not quite sure what those are but they're limited to the first so many hundred copies) (Php599)
- (Possibly) Collector's edition with 2 very limited collectible 6" figurines (Php1,200 but no book, slipcase, balls)

I'm sold! :o

Might be forced to double dip if LE does not come with book, slipcase and balls  :(  Damn you warner!  :P

Okay, some bad news. Looks like the gift set isn't pushing through after all. Astro is trying to get some directly, but no word on whether this will be available through retail channels.

The good news is, Corpse Bride and Corpse Bride DE (with the special slipcase and book) will be available starting tomorrow, 16 February at all major outlets.

After seeing sir redge's pix, I was definitely going to get the gift set. Too bad that it might not push through. The gift set is definitely bad a**!!! ;D Sayang...probably because of the movement ng Polar Express Gift Set kaya hindi natuloy. Oh well...will still get the DE tmw. ;)

Too bad for the gift set, I was really looking forward for it.  Hope Astro can get some for us...

Definitely picking up the DE!
I knew the CE with the figures is too good to be true - major steal yun for P1200 - on the positive side, you can buy the 2 figures boxset seperately (available na sa PTOYs sa greenhills) - I don't know if I'll be picking up the figures since meron na ako nung first release ng victor and corpse bride.

This is really a bad news! this could be Warner's one-time deal to shine.

 :( :(

Astro is trying to get some directly, but no word on whether this will be available through retail channels.

has this practice been done before?

thanks for the news!

studios are afraid to take risk nowadays----effect of waiting-for-sale-before-purchase mentality among consumers, maybe?

definitely maybe.

VERY OT:

polar express giftset has a foil-type package. my only complaint is the lack of slip case which other countries manage to have.

IMO, the slow movement is because of the price and not the package.. Price is always a factor for Filipino DVD-R3 collectors/consumer. anything higher than P550, they consider a luxury or not really a good buy/deal.  C-Interactive Research team must have perhaps identified the primary purchase driver and customized items accordingly i.e. what would fit consumers' ideal pricing... geared not to the non-stop always complaining "legit" collectors but to the majority of the DVD buying public --- where real profit is actually derived hassle and complaint free.

other collectors who dont mind high prices for good releases are affected tremendously.. and are therefore forced to get their DVDs outside the Philippines. i remember when i first joined this forum and realized the wealth and extensive collections of almost all the active members and surprisingly their dvds did not come from sale. we are all waiting and continuously checking who got what title first. full of energy and appreciation.

oftentimes, we only get what we give.

oh well.. everything must change.

The sad truth is that sales are down. Consumer spending for upmarket items (like original DVDs, sadly) seems to have slowed down considerably. New releases are trickling in and all of the distributors are being very careful.

That CE with the 2 6' figures would have been a very good value as I bought the original mcfarlane release of victor and bride for almost P2k. It was very hard to find those figures being sold here as they were being sold by the set.

Meron na sa Astro Glorietta. But you have to ask sa counter kasi limited stocks yung DE. Yung action figures naman, naka-reserve na, but since suki ako, they said I can have one. But I opted for the DE only with the magnets 'coz I'm not into collecting plastic action fiigures, tsaka I don't know where to store the box.
