mas maganda ba picture quality nung slimfit 29" ng samsung compared to other brands na mas cheaper 29k-30k ang price range na 29" flat tv's? ::)

If its HDTV then it should be because it have  progressive capabilities.

Its not HDTV, But HDTV Ready only

same thing. i think the only difference between the two is that HDTV already has the tuner to receive HD signals while the other one needs a seperate box.

Went to Ansons Galleria kanina, meron na ring 29" 4:3 HDTV Slim CRT na Samsung, retailing at 39,000.

This is perhaps the cheapest "HDTV" capable TV to date.

True HDTV (those with HDTV tuners) have 16:9 aspect.   4:3 TVs that claim HDTV are only HDTV-ready.

Based on our testing, it can accept progressive and if you compare it with normal interlaced mas maganda PQ ng progressive kaya lang we are not sure what's the exact resolution? 480p or 780p... that is for NTSC but for PAL superb and linaw! We'll, I don't know kung sa source lang but as the manual state it can support up to 1080i for PAL no mention of NTSC  :(

Can somebody help us out is our observation correct?

nakakatakot pala yan kung no mention of NTSC on progressive support sa manual.   can we tell just by looking at the picture kung progressive o interlaced?  di pa kase ako nakakakita ng progressive e.... kapag pareho ba sa philips pixel plus picture quality, can we say na progressive nga yung unit?

I've been going to various applicance stores who have this and asked questions regarding this slimfit model.. I'm really not satisfied with what the salespeople told me. My next step? Will try to bring my dvd player and a couple dvds to test it out myself.  ;D

Of course i would have to find out first if the appliance stores will allow this..

At 40T, seems price-friendly enough.  If you just want analog progressive scan capable TV.  And that slim look.

I asked them kung gagawa pa sila ng mas malaki.
Gusto ko sana 34" or 36" kaya lang di na raw magmamanufacture ang Samsung ng bigger model kasi sobrang bigat na daw.

There are news na gagawa sila ng smaller model 21 inches.

yup, i just checked abensons last friday, meron 0% interest for 12 months or pwede rin 24 months at citifinancial. lalabas ng P2500/ month lang pag 24 months. pwede na plus 10k for th HT set. kaka-tempt na talaga bumili but what's keeping me from buying is the thought na the prices of lcd are going down na rin. the lowest priced lcd i've seen is the 32 inch samsung which is priced at 105k. at with the almost  45k difference, i'm thinking of just getting this slimfit instead. what do you think guys?

i'm quite doubtful pa rin after service support of brands like Yes, viewsonic, etc kasi. i heard maganda daw syntax and I think LG is the service center for this so i might consider this. the samsung slimfit offer is just too good to resist kasi eh. although im also thinking that the prices of lcds are going down significantly and before we know it, baka umabot to around 80k na lang by mid-year for brands like samsung. so i'm really caught between buying now for a slimfit crt tv or wait till mid-year if lcd prices will further go down which will be within my budget.

Yep Syntax is also a good brand but priced a bit higher now than Yes... the 26" is almost priced the same as the 32" Yes... The LG offer is good but if you read the earlier posts here, they say may problems sa geometry yung Samsung plus this one on sale at 40k is not widescreen... also, the Samsungs sold here do not support HDMI... if you want to "future proof" your set up, wait ka na nga lang na bumaba prices of LCD (which is what I am doing  ;D)

If you have doubts about the LCDs, you may want to inquire from members who have them...

BTW... we had a Samsung 29" TV before and we had very bad experiences with Samsung aftersales service  :P

Based on my understanding, the connection to do progressive is analog (component video). While the latter is by digital connection like HDMI and DVI. :)

Since Samsung slimfit TV doesn't have any DVI or HDMI connection it will not support 480p, 780p etc at any given system (PAL or NTSC)? So if that is correct samsung is misleading the people from their TV specification  >:( Mga sir paki clear naman medyo nakakalito sa mga newbies na katulad ko.

Samsung slimfit TV supports 480p, 780p and 1080i through component video connection (component video is analog).

Just seen it today at Abenson Glorieta.

Just saw a 29" WIDE screen LCD at Park Square selling for the same price.  Unbranded.   I think I'll benefit from a wider viewing area for an anamorphic 16:9 TV from this.  And it's really more SLIM.  Just a thought.  ;D

There's a 12 month's 0% imterest at the Abenson's Store and, while I was there, a WS-32Z30HE was recently delivered, since, the salesperson offered free delivery, I immediately took oyut my card and got one.

I got one for it's aesthetically pleasing physical features, plus the color combination will blend in with the Harman and our attic furnishings, furthermore, it's CRT, and I find it consumer friendly. Anyway, the progscan capabilities is at par with any of those reported; it's multisystem, and yes progscan for both PAL and NTSC, the menus are simple and user friendly,( that you could not manipulate it, possibly to save the owner from sure disaster).
I also installed a wireless headphones via the RCA jacks, and the funny thing is, that once you utilze the 1st component jack, the 2nd Component jacks will not have any audio out from the rear but works on the TV. I havn't figured why, but it's really a puzzle for me.
There's no Closed Captions, unlike the other Samsung CRTs, hence, you'll have to do with subtitles even with your original DVDs.
The rack that is given free is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but not as sturdy as it looks, so one needs to be very careful in moving the rack, the good side is that it's easier to clean since, it's mostly open, and a lot easier whenever, you need to check the rear.
Of course, the signal's for broadcast is not that good yet, I think it's because this is already HDTV and not merely the HDTV capabilty, I'm not really sure though. The user witll have the choice fro a regular broadcast or for the upsampling DNIE(?) which I think distorts the picture with a lot of artifacts.
The remote's very simple, and seemingly not as user friendly than your average Sony or JVC remote, plus, it wont work on my Samsung VHS, I don't know though, if I can reconfigure it or the other buttons just for a samsung DVD player.
The instruction manual is as simplistic as it gets, and almost the same as the other CRT TVs from Samsung.
I am still trying to learn the other intricacies of this TV, I will just post an update, for anything unusual that may come out  as I use it.

Congrats on your new toy???  Happy viewing.   ;D

Off-the-Air broadcast reception is nor really recommended especially for large screen monitors as reception artifacts can be magnified.  Cable is still best.
