I did not watch it when it was released in the cinemas. But not as bad as what critics would say. The film just lack the gloss of let say "Gladiator" or even "Troy". Well, I guess Oliver Stone wanted to make the movie as real as possible and maybe a little fiction could have spiced up the movie.
I also wanted to see Oliver Stone's interpretation of ancient historical battles. It was a different take on things and the action scenes were not that bad. Another aspect of the movie that I like was the costumes and the set because you feel that you were in a time that was pre-Roman Empire (compare it to Gladiator or Rome in HBO, you know that they were more primitive).
I took a gamble on this because I did not want an expensive "Alexander" in my collection. In fairness, both of the discs played and the packaging was good. The only disappointment was that it should be on DVD9.
