Never did I appreciate my system as much as it is now! I have noticed that I am getting very good strong quality bass at a lower level in my receiver. Before the panels, no matter how much I cranked up my subwoofer level, I just pushed it to distortion without getting the SQ and the oomph I was looking for.

Watched WOTW and Hulk today and oh my gulay!!!  :D ;D ;D  Watched Diana Krall live in Paris and had heard a cleaner midrange and the instruments are so clear that you can isolate hearing each one.  ;)

doc go check this out with mike c

if you are happy now with the sound quality of your subwoofer, wait till you try the above mentioned, it will bring your listening pleasure to another level ;) ;) ;)

Brad Pip, thanks for the advise but I already used spikes that I have to isolate the sub.

doc ill run audessey again.  medyo matipid itong audessey ng onkyo sa pagbigay ng power sa bass as compared to my old denon receiver  :D

After the calibration, did you go to "Manual Setup" and change all speakers from "Large" to "Small"?

thats not weird especially if its a glass center table. i recalled before some of our gurus also mentioned that a center table contributes to reflections too. The center speaker placement also matters,it should be tilted upwards so that the tweeter's line of site is directed towards the ear level of the listener in the listening position. It should also be placed in a way where the outer edge of the center speaker enclosure is a little outside the outer edge of the table where it was placed(protruding a bit) to also avoid immediate reflection.

when doing audio listening, i was also advised to cover the plasma tv screen with thick towel as the screen is also causing reflection. carpet placed on the floor between the gears and the listening position also contributes in improving SQ.

i usually increase by 6 db the level calibration of the subwoofer after calibration because it suites me well, not to other people perhaps.

i also set the Dynamic EQ to ON as I find the bass response better that way.

Yup somehow after Audyssey calibration of the receiver, I still find the bass of the sub a bit thin.  I surmise the receiver assigned my fronts to large i.e. the fronts will also be contributing to the overall bass output thus the receiver's lowering of the subwoofer's level. I might be wrong on this though just correct me guys.

As advised by Sir Mark to change my fronts to small and leave all the low frequency load to the sub I had to crank up its level a bit to achieve the output that I am satisfied with.  Actually it's all a matter of preference just don't drive the sub to distortion levels.

Just tell me when you want to come over...

Si gunblade ata ang confounding factor last time kaya di tayo nakapanood ng husto.

Try mo bro yun suggestion ni bro Tirso. Ok na kasi ako (for now  ;D eka ni brad tirso) sa HT speakers ko. I just set my sub to 50hz cut-off and pump up the volume of my sub.

after doing multeq, i usally get xover of between 30 to 50hz for the fronts, center and surrounds. If I remeber it correctly, if the resulting xover after calibration is 60hz or above, recommendation is to maintain it at that. THX recommended to is 80hz so i manually adjust the xover to 80hz. As for the LPF of the LFE, THX recommended is at 120hz. I usally get that setting after calibration. On the subwoofer itself, i set the xover frequency to the highest level.

Prior to doing calibration, i follow the recommended setting for the subwoofer gain of midlevel. If i get a negative level calibration result on the high side( the highest for me is at -12 db), i decrease the gain setting a bit). When set to midlevel, i usually get a -10db result so i set my subwoofer gain to 10 o'clock postion and re run the calibration again. This setting gives me around - 6db 0r -5db. I then increase this level to 6 steps in the reciever and this has by far given me the best result overall.

i hope i have narrated everything correctly :) :) :)

Amazingly we have the same settings i.e. 10 o clock sub gain setting and after calibration got a -5dB result on the receiver's sub level.  Before the acoustic treatments, I cranked it up till +1dB to get an "acceptable" output from my sub but after the treatments, I was able to lower down the level to -9dB with a stronger bass response on the lower frequencies without sacrificing SQ.
