Doc, what are your listening impressions? What's the difference between the cylinder and the box?
Sir Mark,
Difference hmmmm...bukod sa mas masarap yakapin ang cylinder?
I left the exact PC12 sub settings of my receiver when I hooked up the PB12. The gain setting was likewise the same. I ran some of my familiar tracks such as The Incredible Hulk, Bolt, Master and Commander and War of the Worlds. I was surprised that the PB12 had a more solid LFE response and in my personal opinion stronger SPL. It had more oomph than the PC12. After having calibrated the level of the PC12 to my liking, with the PB12, I had to lower the receiver's sub level a notch. The bass response was subdued a bit but still overpowering my fronts. I ran some of my audio tracks and the SQ of the bass was the same as the cylinder.
Just think that the PB12 has a backbreaking weight as compared to the PC12 so expect a more solid enclosure even with the same amp and driver. The result of this to output performance, maybe the other gurus might be able to supply the answer.
I loved the PC12 and with my limited experience with subwoofers, it was an excellent performer until I got to compare it with the PB12.
I haven't gone through the long phase of running Audyssey calibration again and this I have to check if there is indeed a difference between the 2 subs in terms of output.
These are just initial impressions and I haven't gone through a thorough test yet due to time constraints.
Don't take my word for it. Different people have different tastes. I am just being an HONEST-thesiologist!
