Panasonic PT-AE900 vs. Hitachi PJ-TX200
« on: Mar 12, 2006 at 10:12 AM »
Has anybody done a head to head comparison between these two lcd projectors. Their reviews recommends them but there are aspects where one is better than the other. Being a newbie in this, may i know which parameters are important in choosing a projector? By the way is there a store that sells both so we can compare them side by side. Thanks and have a nice day.

do you guys have any idea how much the hitachi PJ cost?... ;D you could compare it via specs...the features.....value and  performance...but you have to audition both....to see which one performs best.   ;D

The TX200 is also a great projector (based on its specs and looks physically more appealing than the AE900), but haven't auditioned one yet to compare with the AE900's outstanding PQ. There was a thread here http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=48098.0 about it and price is just a bit higher than the AE900.

Here's a very nice technical review and comparison with the AE900 and Sanyo Z4: http://www.avbuzz.com/audio-video/200512/HitachiTX200/index.htm

based on the review, panny slightly outperforms the hitachi (biased..hehehe)...but hitachi, as said, doesnt have serious weaknesses.  i guess you won't go wrong when choosing one....and oh yes, it is pleasant looking physically.... ;D ;D

If you look at the reviews on the home cinema choice website they're saying you won't go wrong in choosing either the TX200 or the AE900.  Some of the key points worth mentioning in the review of the two units is that:

The AE900 does a better job of addressing the "chicken wire effect" than the TX200 but the review doesn't list this as a shortcoming of the TX200 the AE900 is just "better" at it.

The TX200 is said to be better at rendering black levels owing to the fact that the hitachi has a claimed contrast of 7000:1 and mentions that some companies tend to be a bit optomistc when it comes to the contrast of their machines but the TX200 actually has the PQ to back it up.

And as Munskie mentioned the TX200 is prettier than the Panny....

So in choosing between these two projectors its going to be down to personal choice and audition! audition! audition! and the all important factor PRICE!

Personally I prefer the Panny :) or is it the Hitachi ??? aaahhhh choices! choices!

Happy PJ hunting!
