DV-696AV-K is the Universal player for me: DivX, CD, DVD, MP3, JPEG, WMA, DTS, Dolby Digital, DVD-Audio, SACD.... and now with HDMI output!!!

And with a list price of $149!!!

According to the press release, these players will come out June 2006.

Wow the Dv- 696AV-K looks so cool in black,

sadly wala sya upconversion thru component which is what i really need

Yes, I really, really, really wish it will come out in Black here so it will match my NAD CD player.

Mukhang yung V in the model number means high-definition Video, yung A means high-definition Audio, yung S means Silver color, and K if it is blacK.

Sana may kasama na rin siyang HDMI to DVI cable since my TV does not have HDMI.

Doesn't seem to be that much difference between the current DV-383 and the upcoming DV-393, so... bring on the DV-696! YEAH!

i guess i just have to wait a little bit more and get the 696 rather than getting the toshi 350...

i want to maximize the hdmi connection kasi with my tv Ü

Following the pattern last year for the 686 and 383, expect the new models to come out sometime Aug to Sept. Hopefully earlier.

There's an error on the DV-490 page title that identifies DVD Audio and SACD compatibility. The technical specs don't confirm this so it's probably a typo. I skipped the DV-393 since it seems exactly the same as the DV-383.

Apparently, the new line is coming out in May in Europe.

Received good news from Pioneer's local representatives. The DV-393 will be released locally in May. The DV-696 will follow in June. No pricing and product configuration details yet but I'll keep you posted.

magkano kaya 696, me hdmi pala ito at with upscaling to 720p/1080i..may dcdi kaya ito?

buti na lang lalabas na to, kasi balak ko sana bumili ng samsung hd860, eh pioneer 676 yung dati ko at experience wise, ok ang pioneer pagdating sa multi-region at p'dvd compatability..

nagtanong ako kanina sa ambassador park square. ang sabi ko ata eh dv 690

meron na daw (with hdmi) worth around 6.9k. malabo kung me kasamang hdmi cable at kung me black color.

For those of you who are waiting, here's a fairly technical look of the DV-393. Unfortunately, the reviewer wasn't impressed. Its HDMI sibling, the DV-490, is getting poor scores as well for its PAL handling. I hope the DV-696 isn't built on the same platform.

Here's a look at the Pioneer DV-490. The HDMI output is pretty good with NTSC sources but has issues with PAL DVDs. Dang. It's beginning to seem like these cheap HDMI players are really... cheap HDMI players.

Suggestion lang po, if you are looking for a HDMI cable, it is available in Ace hardware sa Filinvest. I was able to get ahold of 1. it costs around 2,600. The Brand of the cable is ACE mismo. Or you can order daw thru pioneer pero you have to wait. di ko lang alam kung gaano katagal.

On the DV490V-S...

I just got this.

What impressed me was it's ability to play f*kes/pdvds...even the extremely difficult ones that my old pioneer 515 couldn't. I got the xenon 840 earlier for this reason, but had to return it the next day due to a playback defect (long loading times, skips even with origs, stalled with some f*kes). I upgraded to the 490V-s after trying it with my most difficult to read discs at the shop (Western).

I attached via component (480p) and hdmi (720p,1080i), I am quite satisfied with the picture quality.
The HDMI cable cost me P2000.
