Opsss...I gave the wrong impression guys...actually it's just a WISH LIST lang...those gears that I've been dreaming but certainly can't afford them at the moment. Guess I better change the list to a more realistic one. :)

SARS Attack Ammunition List

*Front projector
*Subwoofer (1)
*HT Chairs
*AVR

One more to go lang... ;D

Whoa! One to go, then EB na! :D :D :D

Hi Mark, thanks for the input. :) Yes, all the equipments will be kept inside the customized cabinet located in front of the PJ screen. The rear of the cabinet is open/expose for easy access. For added mobility/flexibility, beneath the cabinet will include built-in wheels. :)

sir Paul, those DVD cabs @ front corners are shelves type?.... di ba, those  corners are best locations for bass traps? and shelves can be located at the rear wall to serve as diffusors as well. it's also more accessible to organize your collections...  ;D  ;D

those protruding columns can be easily covered  by wall acoustic panels but overall layout.. maganda sir ang Ht nyo..

Hi Mon, thanks for the feedback. :) The front DVD cabinets shown in the layout are actually not at the front corners. All the four corners inside the room will be treated for bass traps. The DVD cabinet design isn't finalized yet but it won't be the usual open shelf type. Most probably it will be a closure type to blend into the whole wall otherwise it may stick out like a sore thumb. ;D

Yes, initially I intended to have the DVD cabinet shelves built into the rear wall as diffusors but unfortunately my room size limitation make it inaccessible esp after the second row seating is setup (too near the wall). Also, i have to deal with the columns problem. :( Hence, will provide separate diffusor treatments at the rear wall.

Speaking of the false wood columns, they aren't in the initial layout....hay to make a long story short...our architect made some bobo & the room ended up with five (5) protruding concrete columns with different sizes (pls see floor layout in Reply #366) ...really ugly. So, I just disguise the colums with fake wood columns....a total of six (6) to balance it out. :-[ Will see how it goes & in the future might treat them with wall acoustic panels.

Nice sir Paul...  ;D

false columns is one way to keep the symetry of the room and could be part of the wall treatment...  ;D

yes! I agree with you.. ;D the columns location and sizes were not studied carefully. it's one of the common mistakes in designs when the architect failed to coordinate properly with enginners. In practice, the architect should have the complete control of the project...  :D

True... :-[ The contractor blames it on the architect's fault. They were just following the plan daw. Hay we also overlook it. :(  Too bad the architect isn't around to defend his position as half way into construction, he has already vanished into thin air (that's another long story for another day). Luckily, he's not here to be afflicted with my wrath or else I will shoot him in the head! >:(  Guess I have to live with the mistake...;D

For acoustic treatment, most of the time I was focusing on absorbers and bass traps that I almost forgotten about the diffusers. Fortunately, during a mini EB not long ago, Mark highlighted the matter. :)

Since my carpenter isn't familiar with it, I just show him the image & ask him to copy the "Quadratic diffusor" type. Hope it helps...  ;D

Quote from PrimAcoustic:
How much diffusion do you need? A good rule of thumb for rear wall diffusion is to cover the width of the listening position. In other words, if the seating area is six feet wide, diffusers along the rear wall should cover that width.

The rear wall will be my main diffusers while on the two side walls- will add some diffusers as well (altenate with absorbers). It seems some opinions suggest that for a small room, it's better to use diffusers for the first reflective points to enhance the sound stage. For me, guess I'll stick to absorbers for the mid to high frequencies. Any thought on this guys?

Hi Paul! Personally, i think that your idea of placing some diffusers along the front walls is a good idea. It should liven the room.

Now, if I were you ... i would delay the installation of the front diffusers. Test the audio first without the diffusers and then with the diffusers. Get a couple of Pinoydvd members to listen with you and decide which you prefer. The main problem with this is that if you use Audyssey MultEQ room correction, you will have to re-run it when you install the diffusers.

Good luck!

Hi Mark, thanks for the suggestion. For clarification, when you say "front walls" are you referring to all the three walls apart from the rear wall i.e. the two side walls (left & right) & the front wall (where the projector screen is located)?

My plan is to install both absorbers & diffusers on the two side walls (left & right) but not the front wall (will install absorber only. If needed later can add diffusers). However, I'm open to your suggestion.

I really mean the 2 side walls. They would have the biggest impact on the early reflections.
