Welcome aboard to the HD world animated. There are lots of nice movies for you to enjoy!  ;)

ei pchin,

Thanks! It's good to be in the HD world. Everything is so much sharper and clearer here. ;)

How much did you get your PS3?

Got my PS3 for 39k at Cardinal Audio at Virramall (V-mall to the younger folk, I'm old school  :P) It's the 60GB US version. It's still a bit pricey, but I think its worth it (and also because I'm crazy  ;D). The Japanese and Asian models are relatively cheaper than the US version and are pretty much identical with each other save for PS1/2 games and DVD region coding. Since we're (finally) part of Region 1 (Region A for Blu-ray), we don't have to worry about Blu-ray movie playback compatibility. The only reason I bought the US version is because I have US PS2 games that I still want to play.

Now, I'm salivating for the upcoming Blu-ray releases. I needs more! MORE!  ;D

Maybe you didn't purchase the 3 titles during the promo period last December because if I remember right, the discount (if you qualified) will apply for all of 2007 up to a maximum of $500 discount.

By checking out amazon france. there are titles for hddvd like terminator 2. Rambo series etc. I tried going to the site and everything is in french (of course) I was wondering how I will make these purchases for import if I dont understand crap..Anybody already tried ordering from here? I assume it will cost almost maybe 40 to 50 dollars per disc, with all the shipment.

I'm interested in the Terminator 2 but considering the high cost of importing from French...I'm hesitating.  :P You can give it a try. Actually, the shopping style is similar to Amazon US tho we can't understand French but all the icons used & check out system is the same. :)

You click the item into your shopping cart ->click "cart" icon to check out -> log in your existing email/passwords same as in Amazon US -> select shipping address -> select shipping method: standard or express-> select credit card details -> confirm check out -> done! :)

Hopefully not too similar. I'd rather it not have the same 4-star transfer. Hoping we'll get the extended edition plus a great PQ :)

Here's a link to the T2 HD-DVD sale & description.

http://www.resetmag.com/HTML/fiche.asp?FicheID=2267

At the left hand section on the HD-DVD specs, scroll down till you will see Duree (Duration): 2h 17 (or equal 137 min) Looks like it's the same 137 min cut as in Blu-ray!  >:(

By the way, Wow...I also notice the language section states English DTS HD Master Audio 5.1? Is this the first DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 release in HD-DVD as I haven't seen this before in all my HD-DVDs?? CooL!!  8)

The Pianist hd-dvd released in the UK has an English DTS HD MA track.

I totally agree. Big discounts/Lower prices on discs will really boost the format. This might be a strategy of blueray to show more sales data that they are blowing away hddvd. Especially coming april, may, june when Pirates will be coming out and more other titles. Just having cheaper players wont do it. Just for example, The Departed, Bd cost 23 something (I think) while HDDVD cost 27 plus. I think bec its a combo disc. I hate combos. The people arguing for combos say they like this idea for the reason:
1. Their kids room have standard dvds, they can share it around
2. BD fox titles cost even more
3. Standard dvds in cars, boats etc.
My argument is:
1. What percentage of people have dvds in cars, boats etc. To me only very small
2. Fox titles that cost more is hi def content only, there is a diff effect, wherein the actual thinking of people is:There is nothing in that disc that is kind of useless. I would pay 35 dollars per disc for star wars series if I have to. Thats just me tho.
3. "Kids room dvd theory" is just nonsense to me because anyway how often does the kids watch dvd on their own. (However, I dont have any kids now so I wouldnt know, I hope and praying to have some soon, Im getting old hehe) Usually they can watch in the living room or bedroom with the parents to watch true hi def, Remember a lot of people (actually the majority including me ) are saying if one goes hi def they will never go back to SD, So I dont get their reason for supporting combos.

On another note, this sale could mean one thing. This is just my opinion...It could be BD disc is not selling well and there are a lot of stock. They can go 50%. On the other hand, overall hddvd is selling well and they dont need to do a 50 percent sale bec of higher demand. (especially from last year). I cant agree right now the 2 to 1 margin sales or more BD is saying because there are really more releases from Bd this year and of course the release of Ps3. When the china players are out (this yr) and more and more hddvd titles come out by year end and still by first/second quarter of next year we are seeing greater lead by  BD over hddvd in terms of standalones and software, then that is a better indication of where this war is heading.

To begin with Blu-ray discs are more expensive than hd-dvds. Price range in amazon at 30% off list price are $19.95, $23.95, $27.25 (not even a combo disc). Original list price of blu-ray discs are in the $28-$39 range which were the basis of amazon's 50% off, $14.49 & $19.97 (at par with hd-dvds non-combo format).
The sale was limited to just 50 titles mostly 20th Century Fox movies.

Only US$ 18.85 sa Amazon ;D ;D

Ordered this and it's on the way...

Quote
Let’s start this review off with a little equation...

E!’s Wild On (- the storyline) + a late night adult infomercial (- clothes) = Bikini Destination

This show, and HDNet original program, is quite useless... in a beautiful kind of way. Bikini Destination places some of the most beautiful swimsuit models (often minus the swimsuits) in some of the world’s most beautiful locals. We get some interview type information about the models, but for the most part, this show is all about eye candy.

Video

Gorgeous women and beautiful destinations shot HD, how could this look anything other than amazing. This disc, presented in a 1080i 1.78:1 transfer, delivers in spades. The colors are rich, the detail is great, and the content just screams perfection. The one problem with a disc with such detail is the fact that every flaw, from skin blemishes to implant scars, is noticeable. That is not to say that some girls were not flawless, but standard definition seems to be a little more forgiving. Considering that this was only a 1080i (vs 1080p) transfer, I was very impressed with most aspects of this discs video presentation. The one noticeable flaw that the interlaced video introduced was spatial artifacts - but this only happened in a couple of scenes.
