Topic: Automotive coaxial speakers for HT

Has anyone tried 2 way or three ways or 6.5 inch car speakers for HT (fronts, rears amd center ) use ? , these speakes will be custom built into the walls corners for aesthetic purposes

oh yah... i remember nung bago pa lang ako malulong sa HT  ... I tried to box my pioneer 6x9's as my surround speakers.. ok lang naman tunog nya. Kaso d maganda tingnan eh

pero kung balak mo palang bumili ng car speakers tapos igagawa mo pa ng box...   mukhang mas mapapamahal ka pa compared sa bibili ka na lang ng surrounds mo for HT talaga eh.. ( for example.... orig pioneer 6x9 + custom made buffles = 5k  compared to Diamond 9.1 =  5.5k) a bit higher but built for HT talaga. mas ok pa tingnan .

Sure, why not?
They may not be as good as drivers made for home audio but it is an inexpensive and easy to build alternative.

In general terms, they are not designed as good as home audiophile grade. But once in a while, a gold is found in the trashes of general beliefs. Try it.

I recall reading an net article that claimed without exception that full-range speaker drivers meant for autos tend to sound brighter. This is done to overcome the more absorptive accoustics of most cars and SUVs.   Modern autos do have a more dead accoustics than typical homes.  And they're mostly 4-ohms.  So I guess it's up to your receivers if they can hande the lower impedance, and to your ears, ofcourse.
