Looking at the onkyo specs vs yamaha, how come yahama has dolby II ex and dts neo and onkyo has not?
mine has Dolby prologic II & DTS Neo naman ha?
^ yung akin din meron paps..
608 user here..

baka nga older model ng onkyo yung kinkumpara nya.
mas madalas kasi na mas mura at feature packed and onkyo, maski entry level ko na 508 meron lahat ng mentioned nya + the PL IIz  :)

yeah, and i believe lahat ng bagong receivers(the good brands) standard na ang mga yan dahil relatively lumang sound processing na ang PL II EX at DTS Neo.

am a newbie, entry level HT owner and recently purchased the 308. all is great except for the not-so-good FM stereo (or could be my speakers?) or nasanay lang ako dun sa dati kong receiver, a 2001 JVC/RX-6000. but all-in-all it's a good purchase...so just in case you're going for the 508, i expect it would be a better equipment..you may want to check the FM stereo though.

yes.  but it is receiver dependent, like in my case.  i can only do prologic IIx OR IIz.  so if my source is a native 7.1, i can do 9.1 including front height via PLIIz.  but if my source is only native 5.1, i can do 7.1 but ill have to choose between REAR surrounds (PLIIx) or front height (PLIIz).

bro streetsmart's receiver can do all at the same time  ;D

Bro Ninjababez i think our 608 has all these options that we can use that is why i am just wondering if we can set up the receiver to use all these at the same time, though our source is only 5.1. I have 2 SB speakers and also plugged 2 more front height speakers. Now i am planning to plug another set of speakers for the front wide. If we cant use all these speakers at the same time maybe ill  have to think it over if i have to buy another set from yhe front wide. Thanks

You have to remove the plastic plug that covers where the banana plug will be pushed through.

You cannot use front high and front wide at the same time (For the 608 model). You must choose only one mode. Many suggest of using the front wide because it provides wider soundstage.

there is no receiver capable of doing this all at the same time, so fra only the denon 4810 can do front wdoe, front height simmultaneously although the 4311 i think is also now capable of this. For onkyo even the highest modle can not do this not even the 5008 although i maybe wrong about this the 5008 though is audyssey mutl eq xt32 capable

if you go to the audyssey thread, thye find better benifit using front wide but i guess it depends on the room as streetsmart would attest to how effective the front height is , his room having a high ceiling

in a very small room, the audyssey dsx setting hardly matters becasue of the constraint on the placement plus the fact that the front, center, front wide must be of the same lineage for proper timber matching, i used RS 1 for front and B2 for fornt wdie before but after a while just decided to remove the wide as there is not much im gaining having to have a very small room

Connected both at the same time, but you were still using the digital input of the receiver?

ganito po ba talaga onkyo 608 ? nasa 50+ na yong volume level pero parang bitin pa din..ayoko nman sagarin baka masira yong speakers or avr mismo :D

any inputs or dapat kung gawin ? btw, im currently using old stereo speakers (100watth/ch)

tia

Try adjusting in Intellivolume. There you can define the input volume explicitly for each component you connect in your Receiver.

Medyo bitin din ako sa volume nung una, pero nung inadjust ko sa intellivolume, i feel better having seen the volume level at around 40 with good results :D I also limit the MAX volume to 70 para hindi maisagad ng ibang tao sa bahay.

Note: I am only using HT speakers for the meantime, so I dont want to push the volume baka masira. Di bale na ung speakers wag lang yung receiver ;D

Hi guys, I have the 608. Do you guys always have audio/video sync issues? Parang palagi delayed yun salita sa akin. It not only happens on one movie, almost nga majority. Am I doing something wrong sa setting? It's getting to be an annoyance if I have to keep adjusting the A/v sync in the menu for every movie. It's really odd.

And also, the reason behind the prohibition? :D
