Ayos to ah. Might consider to purchase from Amazon the next time i upgrade my AVR. Kala ko kase hindi you need to send them the AVR to have it repaired in the US pro pwede pala locally tpos shoulder nlng nila cost. :)

Not sure though if its applicable to all AVR purchase. In my case kasi, the manufacturer (Onkyo) acknowledge that there is a flaw in their 2010 models (708-5008).

OT: top notch talaga ang return policy ng amazon. i once bought a replacement laptop battery but when i received it after almost 2 months it did not fit properly. the allowed refund date had already lapsed but when i told them that i just recently got it because i lived in the philippines, they told me to send it back. they paid the return shipping + the battery cost to my credit card.

Brought my unit in West Avenue for repair:

Onkyo service center in West Avenue told me that the problem is a minor fix. Marami na raw narepair nila na local unit and Onkyo Japan had acknowledge that there is a problem & identified the culprit. Problem is a chemical causing the circuit board to corrode. According to them, they will only have to replace a socket, in some cases yong cable daw at lalabhan daw nila sa sabon at tubig yong circuit board kung kumalat na yong chemical.

Local warranty will only cover repairs but not refund or replacement. Kaya yong $50 na gift card ko binili ko agad ng Kindle Fire. ;D ;D

Siguro bro pag nagmanifest na lang. Ika nga nila, don't fix it if ain't broken.  ;D. Basta biglang lumipat ng input while watching movie manifestation na yon at hindi tatagal mas frequent na yong pagloloko hanggang hindi mo na makontrol.

boss nogie,

when you bought the avr from amazon, did you have the item shipped directly to the philippines? or shipped to a US address then shipped to the Philippines.

this is indeed great news for a lot of us who would like to purchase online but are concerned over potential warrantly claims.

thanks

It was shipped to US address before shipping out to Manila. At first, Amazon contested that item was freightforwarded ergo, it will not be covered by any warranties. I pointed out that issue was "flaw" on the model (not because it was freightforwarded) as experienced by numerous owners in the US.

Hi guys, question lang po. Upgraded from 705 to 809, dati yung upconverting video transparent sa 705 now sa 809 seems a little complicated. Lots of choices like through, direct, custom, and 3 others i forgot. Question is what setting ang piliin ko? To complicate the matter, mayron din video setting yung PJ and the source, what will be the best? THanks!

Sa dark scenes kasi parang malabo yung mga tao and masyado yung white sa background, even my 12 year old sone noticed this when I was testing the receiver. thanks ulit!

Here's my suggestion sir.. set the Onkyo to 'pass-through' para walang alteration sa video signal. Then make the adjustments sa projector. You will need a calibration disc. Most likely sa brightness and contrast yan. But it could also be the other settings in the video chain that's causing the problem. If you want I can help you configure the settings and do some basic calibration. But I'm not an expert a..

I think sometime i have read here an issue on the Onkyo 608's audio delay and I have observed this to be true. I hooked my pioneer DVD player on the Onkyo 608 and played a CD music. Truly when I pushed the play button of the player and the the music is started, the beginning 1 or 2 seconds of the music is not amplified.  any explanation for this? ::)

.

Di lang Onkyo ang ganyan sir. Pati ibang AVR... the delay is because the AVR is taking 1-2 seconds to determine the right codec to use so it can play the audio.. I have experienced other AVR's bnew na ganyan.. Some AVR's now are faster kaya di mo manonotice... Using Analog connection doesnt do that because walang digital conversion of signal na nangyayari.. Derecho sa speakers ang tunog..

just to give you an idea. NR 809 can be had here locally for around 65K but if you get it from amazon, landed is around 42K only, landed meaning inclusive of shipping,1009 is around 1200 USD pero dito 75K for better price reference, check with amazon.com for current pricing of the 508.
