Good luck!

Anong feedback sa 2013 and 2014 models ng Onkyo regarding heating and HDMI issues?  Ang taas talaga sana ng cost performance ng Onkyo (lalo na ng gusto mong 8 series at $599 - that's a great deal!) as long as it works. Hindi lang yung sound ang maganda, pati video upscaling is impressive - I thought my VT plasma was already that darn good on its own until I noticed how much difference the Onkyo pass-thru makes.  I'm just hoping that Onkyo engineers would address the heating issue more earnestly and effectively - additional cooling fans, additional heatsink - how technically challenging that can that be?    Or kung masira man yung unit, at least something that would not require a major part replacement is so short a time.  With my Yamaha AVR experience since the 90s, ni isa walang nasira until I replaced them - nakaipon lang in time kaya I decided to get a better and better Yamaha after around 5 years or so.  Before my bad Onkyo experience, I really thought that AVRs are like fridge - one to sawa.

In any case, I think I would still have gotten another Onkyo kung hindi nagawa yung 809 ko.  Di hamak na mas mura than Yamaha eh.  hehehe.

planning to place it in my luggage ... it should fit into my huge bag ... tambakan ko na lang ng damit at chocolates ... duck tape suggestion is a good idea to reinforce the box ... i think that balikbayan box is not an option for me, baka buksan at ma-tax pa ako - i don't stay long term in US, 2-3 weeks max lang every time i go there ... i've brought several delicate electronic items before, but nothing this big and this seems to be more delicate ... thanks for the suggestions ... hopefully they reduce the price further when i get there end of Feb :)

Other than these problems ok pa naman yong 818 ko.

With regards to the NO SIGNAL issue, sakit ata talaga ng ONKYO yan. You just have to detach and re-attach both ends of the HDMI cable to resolve the issue. Just make sure that both units are UNPLUGGED.

Darn last night my onkyo 608 is not responding. When I turn on my regulator, my onkyo automatically have "fw update" lighted up front. It is not responding at all. I don't know what happened. The night before I just played some flac files on my mede8er. I never did any update. Oh well. Taking it to the service center today. Darn no receiver for several days. Bad trip.

Hi wala na. I had this receiver since 2008 or 2009 ata.

Saan ang Onkyo service center Moks? do you have their contact number? Thanks.

Hi the service center is in West ave. as mentioned by Wengkapre. Some other tel nos are 374-8669 to 71. Makita mo malaki onkyo sign.

Hay I'm kinda losing hope on my receiver. 3 ic daw kailangan. They have to order from Japan and they are still checking the price. Baka 3 to 6 months wala ako receiver. Bad trip. Ok na ok sana itong 608 for my basic needs. Parang I don't want to splurge 80 to 100 plus grand for a new receiver. I might just go basic 7.2 receiver again until atmos and dtsx is fully supported na and the prices are affordable na. Hay isip isip..

what is the feedback of the onkyo service center? Good or bad service? I have my unit there since last saturday. They keep telling me they will call me the next day (when I call to follow up), because they are waiting for the IC prices from Japan. Does it really take that long to get the prices from Japan?

I'm getting second thoughts on Onkyo now if ever I will get a new receiver.

Had experience with them, ok naman.

But don't take my word for it, kasi 1 time pala ako nakapagpaservice. ;)

Thanks a lot sir. I just talked to them today and they are not even sure if they replace the 3 ic  that it would fully solve the problem. There is a possibility of more parts needed. Pero i might have no choice but to let them do it because sayang naman receiver ko. Hay naku....worst scenario is the hdmi board and their estimate is around 12000 pesos. It may be more.

what?

if i were you, bili ka na lang ng brand new receiver. puro bago pa ang parts sa loob, may warranty pa and you will have a peace of mind. its a more costly option but worth it. dami na magagandang receiver ngayon, bakit ka nagtyatyaga jan sa luma, what if masira ulit yan, then another 12k? so naka 24k ka na sa repairs which is equivalent to brand new. uso pa ba ang sentimental value ngayon.

electronics are not designed to last long.  :)

ok naman service center ng Onkyo sa West Avenue ... i had 2 Onkyo receivers having the almost the same issue as yours repaired ... good thing is that it happened while still under warranty ... after the same issue occurring on two different models, I decided to stay away from Onkyo on my next purchase - now using Denon, and it's been performing well for more than 5 years without any issue

I was very satisfied with Toyama's handling of my 809, but I was very fortunate that they had the replacement parts and hindi naman pala HDMI board ang palitin na. Mapapaisip ka nga whether it's worth spending that much or kukuha ka nalang ng bago.  I was thinking mas mura pa rin to spend 12K-15K to repair my 809 in case.  Kaso, wag naman sanang uulit yung HDMI problem in a few years.  Anyway good luck!

Also thinking of going back to Yamaha in case bumigay mga Onkyo namin right now.

Thanks sir, i already gave them the go ahead to repair the three IC.  Hay, yun lang 3 months wait. If they did not work, i dont need to pay them daw. I will just pay the inspection fee.  This is when i will decide hehe. So ok naman, yun lang if it is the board then for sure it is quite expensive, as mentioned.

So far i am very happy with my onkyo 608 and really no problems whatsoever until now.

I was checking the 3030 because I wanted 7.2.4 atmos. Pero I might just wait for dolby and dts to battle it out before I decide.
