Gurus question lang po, if I am playing a True HD BD using PS3 dapat ba naka display sa 705 na Dobly True HD? Thanks! Also, parang walang sound na lumalabas sa back surround ko, how do I remedy this? THanks again!!!

PS3 cant output the HD audio via bitstream for the 705 to decode, so wala ka makikita na dolby trueHD sa avr.  But you are essentially getting dolby truehd, but the decoding is done by the PS3.   I dont know kung ano display sa avr of your 705, but sa denon 3808 ko, if decoding is done by source player, i get the display "multi-ch in".  Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Munskie! I guess I still have a lot to discover about the 705 and hopefully I can get to know its capabilities soon. I tried playing Celine Dion and chose LPCM and all the 7 channels are working pero when I change to TrueHD 5 channels lang yung tumutunog  ???

Bro, does your BD player output the new HD audio formats via bitstream?   Without bitstreaming, your 605 cant decode the HD audio formats (therefore, no display on avr like that in the pic).   What happens though, is that the decoding is done on the player.  Also check too if your Samsung BD player can internally decode DTS-Master Audio.

hi sir munskie, as per the samsung forums and the website, they just recently released a firmware update on their combo player:

This Firmware update provides the following benefits:

1. Upgrades current BD-UP5000 to profile 1.1
2. Upgrades BD-UP5000 with HD audio bit-stream output function. (i dont know if this is what you mean)
3. Updates User interface based on BD profile 1.1
4. Improves playback compatibility in some movies

so i upgraded my player when i got it, but ayun, it doesnt make my avr display that, unless siguro i go look for a player that decodes DTS HD ma..
i was hoping somebody would have the same setup/player that i have..

but anyways, thanks sir

Ok na yung bitstreaming.  Just make sure na kasama ang DTS-MA

Mag bossing , na resolve na po ba yung issue ng clicking and popping sound sa onkyo 605,705,805 ? I was contemplating between the 705 and 805 but user's from other forums are still complaining about the said problems..

i thought my 605 was prone to popping as well.. but when i read other forums and checked my fw version.. found out that i had the latest fw and my 605 is pop proof.. the only rant i have now is not seeng the dts hd ma/ or true HD displayed when im watching movies..

ive downloaded the new fw and the instructions just in case.. anybody who wants to do a DIY upgrade, i can readily send the file... and the how to links...

Congrats! Now you have to tell us your honest opinion on whether or not you can hear a difference if you compare it to plain-vanilla DD and DTS.  ;D

I have  popping sounds coming from my speakers every now and then.  Is this an issue with the 705?  I thought this only occurs when bitstreaming DTS-HD MA from the player to the 705.  I don't even have a blu-ray player yet.

honest opinion.... YES!!

i dont have sensitive ears.. i started on the visual side... then i told myself, once i have a good hd setup, ill stop there..

then i bought a 605, and since i have a collection of hd/bd decided to get a sammy bd up5k duo player.. (to preserve ps3.. and gave my tosh a30 to my sis)..

was following this thread and said, why not, since i have the hardware, might as well make the most out of it..

then it was followed by 3 weeks of frustration... only to find out that the "lastest" fw update that i applied to my sammy wasnt the "LATEST" with the 1.3 bitstream support.. (what is it with long fw version name of sammy? cant they stick to 3 digit version?)

then last night, after almost giving up, i tried to check for an update.. and EUREKA...

with a pounding heart.... and fingers crossed, applied the update.... placed a BD sampler with DTS MA.....

....

all the frustrations are worth it.. its like a long treasure hunt and finding THE TREASURE!!

and the difference you ask??

for a newbie and untrained ear.. IT WAS STAGGERING DIFFERENCE!! audio quality and volume was x2 of that of 5.1....

now im beginning to understand when the said that DTS and DD 5.1 was "lossy"...

actually to be fair.. its not lossy.. the best way to describe uncompressed audio vs compressed is that... with compressed audio, youre like given appetizer.. and with uncompressed audio, its the whole buffet!

its more like an ephiphany of clearly hearing what wasnt there in the first place...

and i have untrained ears at that.

hope this FR post has helped...

word of advice.. if you have the hardware.. might as well make the most of it!

its worth it...

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

If your display isnt 1080p native, better go with the 805. My 720p native display didnt shine with the  875's HQV. But with a 1080p native display... :o.

I am not sure about the SQ difference of the 805 vs the 875 though.

just my .02 cents.

sir dan, may benefit pa ba ang back-up dvd (iso's) o mkv's from PCH (480i) fed to 875 using reon? i mean comparing the 1080p/720p PQ from PCH alone vs the magic of 875?
