I already connected my rear speakers to the surround left and right ports, now I know that my connections are correct (5.1 setup).  In DD it says DD so that one has been corrected, however in DTS it still shows NEO:6  ???.  I know that NEO:6 only works in 7.1, but how come mine still shows NEO.  I set Listening Preferences to DTS for DTS, but it still defaults to NEO when I select DTS.

Am I still missing someting here?

@Oreoshake
bro, where you able to download the firmware from the link? I was able to download the firmware. I don't have an Onkyo  ;D

@Busabos
Double check the audio settings of your Movie. To be sure, toggle the information display of your dvd/bluray player to see what audio track is playing. I think Darkwing is correct, you may not be playing a DTS 5.1 track.

Im searching for a reciever right now, I am choosing the 805 or the 875. The 875 i saw is a store demo and the 805 is brand new, but both of them are

priced the same amount. which one should i get? the 875 demo? or just go with the brand new 805? btw, the 875 doesnt have the set up mic , remote and

manual. any suggestions? thanks!!

The 875 is a better receiver than the 805, but without the set-up mic and remote?  If you can source out a set-up mic and remote, go for the 875.

Same with me, I'm using a universal remote.  You don't need the remote of the receiver.  Go for the 875 then.  It's a great receiver but be wary of the heat issues and how to deal with it.

Make sure its silent enough for your HT..  ;D ;D ;D

You can read more about the 875 at the AVSforum.com... Just search for the Onkyo 875 thread.. There are also some highly recommended silent coolers mentioned in that thread..  ;D ;D ;D

GO for the 875. Since you're based in the US, you'll have no problems securing a replacement remote ...  ;D

Get the 875... If you don't like 'em you can always have the option to return & experiment for better replacement/option.

i posted the url sa previous page, baka na overlook mo (dami ng post hehehehe) here it is.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1016297

naka list diyan yung para sa 705 na possible firmware.. it is hosted in rapidshare, so no need for the serial number...
read mo lang yung thread para sigurado na safe. i'm not exactly sure if this is the one... kaya check the thread for more info.

Remote controls of Onkyo receivers are quite expensive ... i asked for a replacement remote control from my old 601 receiver, the price was 4.5k from the authorized service center.

no brainer, 875 syempre, the mic, maka hiram ka naman siguro dito sa forum, manual you can download from the internet. the remote, that's a bit challenging. kasi you need it to set the receiver up, pero i still think the 875 is the better option. unless, 8 hours naka bukas dun sa pinagdedemohan.

Hmmm hinde naman but you need to turn the volume up para maging dynamic ang sound, yung tamang reference level ika nga, kung meron kasi Audyssey, maski low volume, dynamic parin ang sounds, hmmm or i think hinde siya  maka Audyssey basta 96khz ang input, yung na test ko na PCM 5.1 kasi 48khz lang ang output

I just learned that in some lower-end AVR's with Audyssey, when the input is 96 khz or higher, di na umaandar ang Audyssey kasi di na kaya ng chips ng AVR. The problem may be the limited processing power/memory of the AVR.

You can also try the comparison tool at cnet website:

The 605 is an Editor's Choice awardee, while the 606 is the latest upgrade of the 605.
Hope it helps...  :)
