I just learned that in some lower-end AVR's with Audyssey, when the input is 96 khz or higher, di na umaandar ang Audyssey kasi di na kaya ng chips ng AVR. The problem may be the limited processing power/memory of the AVR.

was looking forward to get this AVR... sayang naman kung walang Audyssey @ 96 khz :(

Just bought a 606. Not sure sa banana plugs, di pa ko nakakita nun :-[
This is the first receiver i bought. Was so excited to set it up, i didn't read the manual, just the quick setup. Tuloy mali pala pagkabit ko ng speaker wires, pinapasok pala sa gitna :-[ :-[ :-[

Blooper 2
I tried all of the buttons to see the features. Kala ko sira yung remote. Yun pala kailangan press yung receiver button to use the other buttons.

Blooper 3
I watched 2 movies pero parang hindi ako satisfied sa 5.1 nuong una sa Pro Logic 2 and i was also wondering bakit pcm lang at dsp ang nakalight, only to find out later kailangan ko palang i set to lpcm output nung dvd player.

After several bloopers - Ganda ng Onkyo. sulit

Next project PS3. . .
Teka parang mainit katawan ko, para akong lalagnatin. Ito na ba yung SARS!!!

question lang po, if your using the 606 with an upscaler dvd player thru hdmi, tapos naka set yung upscaler mo to 1080p, will the 606 downscale it to 720p? kasi i read this on cnet pero not sure kung tama nga, kasi parang i read it somewhere here in pdvd, na if your input source is hdmi it will just pass it thru as it is... so kung naka set sa dvd player is 1080p it will not downscale it. if other input source ang ginamit like rca, s-video, that is the time that the 606 will upscale it to 720p.
anyone? ???

uhmm baka it just means it will pass through 1080p, ang nasa manual talaga is upconvert up to 720p/1080i only hehe

siguro nga, baka if your output is already 1080p it will just function as a pass through lang. :)

bro, ang affected lang ba nito yung Audyssey Dynamic EQ™ ? yung audyssey speaker calibration hindi naman right? since the config is not processed in realtime... sana ganun..

I dunno basta naka off yung Audyssey light sa amp basta 96khz, actually i really didn't noticed anything peculiar sa audio quality kasi naka full blast yung pag play ko sa concert, pansin ko lang when trying to lower the volume off pala yung Audyssey lols, what is wierd though naka On pa rin yung Dynamic EQ sa Audio Settings

A week ago, I forced all of the video signals to come out to 720p via HDMI in my 705 from its auto default.  Everything went fine until yesterday upon turning it on, nothing is displayed on my AX100.  I tried cable tv via composite and output to HDMI, PS3 output to HDMI and Pio DV400 output to HDMI nothing happened.  Then I just reverted the settings of the 705 to auto and everything is well again.   Weird!  Didn't try to set it back and test in forced 720p again.

Bought mine from Sights and Sounds, Shangrilla.
P 15,000.00 cash + P 13,000.00 cc (Black)
The store opposite S & S is offering Silver Denon 1908 (with pre outs and hdmi, 7.1 ch) @ 27,500.00
You can audition them. Don't know about HK kung saan meron sa Shang. Meron rin mga stores sa 5th flr. Probably may HK doon.

Happy Hunting!

Hi! also bought my onkyo 606 at S&S recently and about the upconverting issues, yes upto 1080i lang ang 606. but the good news is if you have a 1080p upconverting dvd player you can just set the avr to just pass through the video signal straight to your TV..  ;)

Anyways when I tried calibrating my speakers using the mic thingy, sobrang hina ng pag set nya! nasa 50plus na volume ko d ko pa masyado marinig. kaya nilakasan ko din lahat hehe walang kwenta din ung calibration hehe  ;D

BTW, I have a question for those who have 606... If you're going to use your ps3 for both gaming and playing BD, where do you plug it's HDMI? at HDMI1 slot (DVD) or HDMI4 slot (GAMING/TV)?  ???

HDMI slots are assignable so it doesnt matter where do you want to plug the hdmi cable but for labeling purposes i assigned my PS3 to game/tv switch in the front panel while my dvd player to DVD. ;D

Calibration uses Audyssey which is pretty much state-of-the-art. Hindi normal ang experience mo. After it is set up, the 0 db level on your volume control should be equal to reference level, which is very loud.

Did you use a tripod to hold the mic?

Nope hehe didn't use any tripod. I just placed the mic on my bed (where i usually stay when watching dvds)... do i need to use a tripod? maybe i should just try calibrating again...  :P

That's what I thought. You need a tripod, otherwise sira ang calibration. Kung wala ka, kuha ka lang sa CD-R King. Yung mura lang, ok na.

Set the mic at the level of your ears when you watch. Do at least 6 positions, in a circle of around 2 feet radius around the main listening position. But don't position the mic near the wall. It should be absolutely quiet when you do the calibration.

Your ears will decide for that.. Why not audition both brands of speakers using your 606..

AMP ---> speaker matching is [very] subjective, IMO.
It would be best to audition those speakers, using your 606, and decide which would be best for your "taste" ...

I agree with you sir ... it's quite a hassle, but the last time i bought speakers, i brought along my Onkyo AVR ... this way you already know what to expect when you connect the speakers at home ...another thing is that since you have a new model Onkyo, try to look at stores with the same model of AVR - this would take out the hassle of bringing your AVR, just bring your test CD's and DVD's

ONKYO TX-SA906X AND TX-SA806X TO BE RELEASED IN JAPAN THIS MONTH

QUOTE:
Whether to call it a "champagne" or "gold" finish, we're not sure, but Onkyo is definitely making some kind of fashion statement with these receivers. The TX-SA806X is the natural follow-up to last month's TX-SA706X announcement, but then Onkyo went and broke the naming convention with the TX-NA906X receiver. That's some kind of marketing. But the specs on these new 7.1-channel models look good -- typical beefy Onkyo construction is good for 200- and 180-Watts (into a 6-Ohm load) from the NA906X and SA806X models, respectively. Some notables include the Reon HQV video processing, 4-in / 2-out HDMI 1.3a ports and DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD decoding. We'll let you read on through for all the spec details, but with these shipping later this month, we hope that TX-SR906 and TX-SR806 models for export can't be far away.

Prices: TX-SA906X = ¥367,500 ($3,300)
          TX-SA806X = ¥262,500 ($2,400)

yep i know they're assignable.. :) actually i also did the same i put my ps3 to the game/tv slot and i notice that the ps3 automatically chooses what type of sound (dts, PLII, Multichannel, etc..) is the best for a particular game.. i was just wondering what if i played a blu-ray movie, will it also assign them automatically? unlike when i play dvds at my player which is assigned to the dvd HDMI slot, i can choose whatever suits best for my taste.. hmm...

hehe sorry kung magulo ako mag explain hehe  ;D

as i understand it, yung 6 position ng mic is for audyssey multi-eq, pag three positions lang ang calibration it's audyssey 2 eq.
