Comparing Panasonic AE900 & Sanyo PLV-24

Anyone out there pls. comment on Panasonic ae900 ANSI Lumens 1100/ 5500:1 contrast ratio
                                                     Sanyo PLV-24 ANSI LUMENS 1000/ 7000:1 contrast ratio

  Both r highly regarded and u can't go wrong with either. Projector Central brings out very salient points to consider. Basically it all boils down to what is important to u and ur individual preferences. One thing to keep iin mind though, meron pa yatang rebate for the Panny...so get ur behind moving before its too late!

In a nutshell:

Sanyo is sharper but has a poor deinterlacer, you have to use a good dvd player or a scaler

Panasonic has a decent deinterlacer but bit softer picture. It is widely available in the Manila with manufacturer's warranty

Tough choice.... even when compairing specs...

I was planning on getting a Sanyo, but no dealer in Manila (therefore no warranty/support).... so Panasonic won

Panasonic AE900 = P78K (Mega Mall, near Concorde car shop)

After 18 months, 800 hours of use, my AE700 is still looking very good.

probably will be publicly announced in CEDIA in October.  but im pretty sure its gonna be 1080p native this time. 

current price drop is likely a result of competition from sanyo plv-z4, beng pe7700, and epson  tw600....

offloading the stock near its successor's release will again result in reduced prices...do we see panny ae900 at 60k++? ;D ;D

Not likely to go below P78K...when I bought the AE700 at 105K, the AE500 dropped to 85K and that was it...not sure if anyone managed
to get it (AE500) for less.

You can always wait for an LED projector for HT use. (rated for 10K-20K hours, but currently limited to 800x600, and less than $1000)

Bro ericag first gen owners pala tayo of hd panny pj ;D I got mine the ae500 for 89t :( 6 mos before the 700 was introduced  :) And so far im still happy with the 500 ;D

I was probably the first one to buy it at SM Mega :), I was waiting and waiting for it to arrive, and got it within the first week of arrival...

How many hours do you have on the AE500?  I have 800 hrs on the AE700 after 18 months of usage.

I'll post my setup in HT/pics tomorrow I hope...

almost 1200hrs na ;D 600hrs per year pala average natin so around 300 movies per year :o sunday lang pahinga kung 1 movie per day ;D

At this rate, it should last you 4 more years, me 4.5 years...by that time we can switch to an LED HT Projector that can last 20000 hrs :)
