Hi this is my 2nd post here. This is my set up at home, a Sony 50" XBR1SXRD TV and a generic dvd player using
a monster ULT1000 component cable. Planning to upgrade, I was wondering if I buy the  Sony DVP-NS76H DVD Player w/ HDMI, would i be able to upscale/upconvert a dvd movie using my existing monster component cable. Or will I have to buy an HDMI cable which, sadly will cost as much as the dvd player.

one more thing which is better in terms of Audio Quality, HDMI vs. Optical? assuming they're both monster ultra1000 series Thanks in advance!!!

Its nice to try something new, go for the HDMI. You can get the HDMI from here, much cheaper.
