I'm planning to setup/calibrate the new PB10NSD subwoorfer that I acquired this Friday (holiday) ... I initially connected it last night on my 1909 AVR, I just observed the following issue - the subwoofer intermittently detects signal from the amplifier and sometimes does not work.
I was using the media files (audio mp3 and mkv videos) from my TVIX NMT, there's no issue with MP3's, subwoofer was working fine ... on mkv video however, sometimes the subwoofer does not work - since the power switch was set to auto ON, i've noted that the sub does not turn on when playing some of the movie files .... to isolate the issue, i tried using my dvd and an original Eagles Hell Freezes Over DVD concert - with the switch set to auto-ON and initially at OFF state, the subwoofer did not turn ON when I played the video (Hotel California); I then tried setting the power swith to always ON, but there was still no response from the subwoofer.
To confirm that the subwoofer is working, I switched back to the MP3 files - it was working well. Please advise if there are settings that I may have missed. This also frequently happened to me on my old Velodyne VX10 and Onkyo 501 AVR - back then, I thought that either my AVR or subwoofer was already malfunctioning, but after experiencing the same thing on a new subwoofer and less than a year-old AVR, I guess there's something wrong with my setup.
For the physical setup, I guess the connections were right - there's only one RCA port to connect to the PB10NSD and there's only one subwoofer pre-out on the 1909 ...on the configuration, I only modified the following - set all speakers to small, change LFE+Main to LFE, change crossover frequency to 80Hz, and set subwoofer to YES. I haven't had the time to thinker with the input setup, Audyssey, annd others as I started quite late, and cannot comment on the PB10NSD performance yet as it was quite late and I do not want to bother my neighbors.
Hope you can give some advice on the other setup parameters that I need to modify.
Thanks in advance
